Default D1SC and F1 Boost levels with a 346

Went through a few logs and put this together, figured it may be of some interest. Similar DA for all of these. Some of the RPM values arent exactly lined up but you can get a good idea whats going on with them.

The F1A is 6K under max impeller speed, I'm scared to try to max it out just yet. IATs are similar to the D1SC maxed out.

Here is a quick graph also, the sharp rise/dip around 5500 is where the converter locks so thats why the curve gets a little screwy there. But its easy to get the general idea..

Good data KP. How do you like the new blower so far? Is it a night and day difference? What is the smallest pulley you intend to use with the F1?

The 3.7 will max out the F1 @ 7000rpm.

Its running decent with it, only was able to make a couple passes. Doesnt really feel that much different but its pretty loud

Pulleys aside...Im surprised it takes to circa 5500rpm, for the boost difference to really show.

I'd have thought the bigger blower would have picked up boost much earlier too....

Or are the graphs not WOT throughout ?

They are WOT off the trans brake, it accelerates so quick before the converter hits its really not that accurate down low since the boost is rising very quick.


But on the brake at WOT @ 3500rpm there is little difference between the F1 where its pulleyed now and the maxed out D1. I woult guess the bigger blower is going to give up some low end at the expense of flowing more up top. There is a big difference in impeller design between the F1A and D1SC and I'm sure its optimized to move the most air close to max impeller speed.

These are just numbers from my dragstrip logs, a manual transmission car and a dyno pull in high gear from 2000rpm-up would probably be more accurate since these numbers are taken in 1st gear (car never sees under 6200rpm the whole way except first gear) in 1.25 seconds there is probably some error.

so you have about 2-3 more lbs after 5,000 rpm. I say pulley it down and max it out ya know you want to!

I'll do it with a bigger engine, 20psi is enough for the little 347 right now..

what are you engine specs? what intake are you using? also, any guesses on an F1R on a large cammed 402?

Well you know the main reason I started this whole thing was because I just wanted to show people that anyone with a garage and a few hand tools and a little mechanical ability can easily buid a low 10 second, high nine second car.

There is nothing on this car that anyone cant just go out and buy and bolt on, except for the roll cage of course but that doesnt make the car go any faster.

I was planning on going turbo long ago but honestly this setup continues to surprise me and I havent found the limit yet, sometimes you just dont fix what isnt broke
