Question MS4 cam and stock block?

I have decided to use the MS4 cam but I was wondering if I go ahead and install it along with the stock heads and intake will this be ok until I get the TFS 215 heads(I really have to save up for those)but I will be installing pacesetters long tube headers,3" true dual exhaust with bullet mufflers,Yank PT 4000 stall, trans go shift kit, tranny cooler, dry nitrous kit, and I have a 02'WS6 T/A that all this going into!

The MS4 has some pretty good valve events, Low end power won't even be a concern since your going to run a 4K stall... I say go for it!!

What do you mean when you say it has good valve events? LOL, its like 238 intake duration, that valve closes so damn late you will lose plenty of DCR, which will make you lose low end. Put the specs in a dcr calculator to see what i mean. But with a 4k stall who cares anyway?

Not really. Intake valve closes way too late for good DCR with a otherwise stock motor.

Most cams like that are going to be robbed of low end. IT will still pull, but not like a 224 does down low. I know that I chose a cam that gives me good power down low....if you consider low 3600rpms.

It has good valve events for the powerband it is designed for. It is by no means optimized for stock SCR, but the power it makes up high is like a screaming gorilla.

Otherwise, there is very very few ways to optimize DCR at 10.1:1 SCR, unless you want a tow cam

FYI, even the stock cam is not optimized for DCR, heck it doesn't even reach 8

Speaking of optimizing, who is gonna put 2.08 valves on a 3.905 bore???

No doubt it has great events for that powerband, the valve event comment was in respone to me saying to say goodbye to low end power. But like was stated with a 4k stall forget about seeing the low rpm's anyway.

If 300lbs by 3000rpm not good enough, I wonder what the hell you are hauling in the trailer.

Was it a stock block/head motor or what? That is damn good. If that was cam only then i take back the low end comments.

Most of the posts I've seen from people who actually have the MS4 are saying it's not got the low end that it was marketed and claimed to have. But I'm still highly intrigued by the cam. I can't wait to see LS144's car with that cam in it. Looking at valve events, I think there's a nice LSK lobed custom grind that would be all around slightly better within a usable powerband (<7000 rpm) by looking at the valve events.
