Ok on a camaro would either of these fit without having to mess with the finder/wheel wells

17x11's with 315's

Yep, just get the right backspacing. 50mm on the 17x11s but I'm not 100% sure on the 18x10.5s althought I had the 17/18x10.5 Z06 wheels on my 02 Camaro.

If you're at stock ride height, you shouldn't have to beat the fenders in. If you go the 315 route w/17x11's, the tire choice will have a big effect. Some 315's are hella wide (bfg's for example) while others are much narrower like nittos.

well if i went for the 17's they would be boyd coddington smoothies
17x9.5 front wrapped in BF KD's 275/40ZR17
17x11 back wrapped in BF KD's 315/35ZR17

Or the 18's would be crome Z06 MotorSports
18x9.5 front wrapped in BF KD's 275/40ZR18
18x10.5 back wrapped in KDW's (Newer Tred) 295/35ZR18

But if the smoothie was offered in a 17x10.5 they would of deff be on the car by now

Why? The tire is what causes clearance problems, not the wheels. A 315 mounted on a 10.5" wheel will take up the same space as a 315 mounted on a 11" wheel.

My 18x10.5s fit no problem. I'm running 295-35-18 BFG KDW2s. No rubbing anywhere. I am at stock ride height. However I did use a 5/16 spacer to bring out the wheel enough to stay clear of the bumpstop. The 17x11s will definately hit the bumpstops and you will have to do some slight massaging of the inner wheel well with 315s.

If you do go with the 315s route on 17 x 11, and 275's on 17 x 9.5" in the front, do a search on 315's and you might want to include my name in the search too, I have written quite a few "articles", cough cough,...I mean replies about this topic.

Uhm, and if you look at Tire Racks spec site, you will see that the tire is wider when measured on a wider rim.
