Update on the motor (pics)
This was the previous thread. https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-induction/632811-wondering-what-symptoms-come-lifting-heads.html
Well Im sure te driver side head gasket is shot, but I am curious to know about these cylinders. they all seem to have the vertical rub marks on the drivers side cylinders (i havent got to the pass side yet) I was wondering if this is normal? Is this cause of the cold start piston slap or is this a bigger problem? I tore down the old block When I had Busted ringlands and I dont remember those types of marks I just remember seeing cross hatches. Will I have to do a rebuild cause of this? The damb thing only has 1500 miles on it. Is it from water in the cylinder when the head was lifted?
Any help would be great let me know where I should go from here, It doesnt look like I will be just changing the head gaskets and going to studs huh.

I had those scuffs on 4 of my cylinders in my n/a engine. To this day I don't know what caused them.
Mine has been running with them for about 12k miles, but it has experienced some blowby, and I am pretty sure those scuffs will cost some power.

I fitted a set of CP pistons in a Subaru engine, and in photos you would swear blind they had some strange pattern on them. To the touch, they were totally smooth.
The bore marks could just be from a little dirt from an earlier build. Or a lack of oil on initial startup..
Worst case, its the piston picking up on the bore a little, if things had got a little hot in there ( either coolant temp or piston temp, more likely the latter )
Probably nothing to worry about though in itself.
