Stall and tires. No doubt.

I agree you're going to see a big difference with the stall. My first stall as a vig3600 and it felt like 100 extra horses.

get a built tranny. you can get a tranny/stall combo from a sponsor for ~$2,000. then you'll get your stall, shift kit and a tranny that'll stand up to a lot of abuse. simply slap on a cooler and you're good to go. it's a little more money than you have, but it's a lot less headache in the long run.

my vote goes to a converter....dont be scared of a big stall.....i had a 3200 and i thought it was ok....then drove my buddies car with a 4400....not much different in terms of daily driving abilities.....but get on the gas a n wow....few months later i installed a 4000 and never looked back

next you will definitly need tires...

then i would throw a shift kit on.

Hmm Agreed how about a PerformaBuilt Level 2 with 3500 stall for 2100 dollars and then you will get a big gain from the converter and be ready for the next big build up without worry about the trans .

dont put a shift kit on though...yes i agree that shift kits make the car shift harder, but it actually freezes the transmission up for just a split second and actually SLOWS your car down

maybe if you go for max pressure and it causes the whole car to buckle. a shift kit can speed up your car. for example, using 1 washer on the transgo kit will make it shift faster. using max pressure may slow you down due to tire chirps and the whole car buckling. there was a guy on these boards a while back that had a 15 second truck and after installing his shift kit he went one tenth faster both passes. the truck itself wasn't any faster, it was just shifting faster down the track :)

I would say stall $500-700. PacesetterLTs,ORY$500. Dragradials$300-400.Any money left put towards a good tune.

How's about a 250 shot from someone like TNT? :eek2:

Just kidding. A good quality shift kit is a solid investment. Keep in mind though it can give you a false sense of security. If your trans feels better after the install, you might begin to lean on it harder and more frequently and that could lead to a tranny failure.
