17 vs. 18 Persuade me w/ Pics!
I'm looking for a nice set of aftermarket rims for my dd NBM WS6. Right now i am factory height but i plan to lower anywhere from 1-1 3/4" using QA1 12 way adjustable shocks and 275-300# springs Now I stongly feel polished will be the way to go for me... but:
1. I am unsure of what size to go with 17 or 18
2. Which rim to go with
3. How wide should i go in the back 9-11?
Top choices i've seen are the Fikse and iForged wheels. But am open to all ideas
SO POST UP THE PICS GUYS...Firebirds prefered close up wheel shots to show the drop and wheel well fill would be great...
Who's gonna win, 17 or 18

Well, whichever way you choose, make sure they are at least 10 inch wide in the rear...17s that aren't wide tend to look too small in the rear. Here is my old car with 17x9.5/11 TT2s and 18x8/10 Smoothie 2s...I just always liked the larger diamter wheel better.

Why not both? I have 17-8's up front and 18-9's out back. They are Boyd Coddingtons JYD wheels. The only problem is that I can only wrap up the backs with a 275 series tire. I maybe selling them and upgrading to a 17-10inch rim to wrap them up with something wider. 17's or 18's both look great on fbodys. The shiny ones really look great.

do NOT go narrower than a 10" wide wheel in back. Trans Ams really need a big tire out back to look good. They gotta fat ***! Camaros can get away with it sometimes. I have 295s and even they look a little small at certain angles. As far as diamater, it all depends on what kind of driving you like to do. Do you want really good handling or do you go to the strip a lot? 17s would be better for the strip because you can put a tire on them with a bigger sidewall. 18's will give better handling with a lower profile tire, but at the strip, it may be difficult to get traction.
My vote, 18s! I think they fill up the wheel well better.
