Default so what can i tune?

well i ordered the standard version of hptuners, not the pro, which from what i have seen severely limits my abilities to tune the motor itself b/c it has no hookups for wide band 02. But can i tune anything in the motor or did i basically screw myself as far as motor work goes and am limited to transmission, fans etc....?

BTW i realize i can upgrade...i just don't think i'm going to do it at this point, in the future most likely.....

You will be fine, I got the regular version, and have a lc1 wb hooked up through the egr, and can tune everything with it.

i don't know about hptuners, and I'm not trying to be rude at all, i just thought that both EFI LIVE and HPTuners had on their websites what each level of software could tune/couldn't tune

Theres no difference in the software between our Standard & Pro version...its ONLY a hardware difference.

Like LS1mongrel explained you can use this guide https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...t=wideband+egr to go through your egr.

Or you could use a dyno that has a wideband setup to get readings for fueling that way. We have many customers & shops that have access to a dyno with a wideband so they havent had a need to pay for the added features of the pro versions hardware.

There's plenty you can do with the standard version particularly if you are new to tuning. You have much more power than you realize (i.e. you can easily kill your engine or transmission with the wrong settings). Just keep reading and enjoy the power. The Standard version has 1,000 times the power of what we used to do: wire in resistors in the MAF, trick the IAT, use MAFT's, and other archaic products.

so i can hook up a wideband through the egr and do complete tunes? I know i have alot of power in my hands that's why i was asking about things because i know i would need to log the right parameters, but i thought i might not be able to do that without the WB, but if i can go through the EGR it sounds like i'm good to go

does anyone have a link on how to go trhough the egr and what is needed?

Check out the sticky:
"Sticky: *READ ME FIRST-- Tuning Docs,VE/MAF, SES Lights, FAQS!!!! + more! *05/06/06*"

hasn't been updated in a while (Ill have to add some more) but contains a link to the EGR hookup for both EFI and HPT, plus tons of other useful tuning docs

The PCM has a spot for the EGR feed still, but you need to add the pin to your wiring harness... you can go through any sensor that's 0-5 volt so doesn't have to be EGR.

Basically the MPVI Pro upgrade makes it considerably easier since it's all preconfigured to use the inputs.. since you don' thave the Pro hardware, you'll just need to resetup the defaults to use your own sensor value (once you get familiar with the software, not hard to do at all)

just make sure it uses the same O2 sensor that is listed in that main sticky ... LC1, LM1, Dynojet, AEM, Autometer are just a few off the top of my head that use that sensor (it's cheap... 40 bux to replace a bad one whereas other O2 sensors are much more)

Keep in mind you have to get the sensor AND translater/brain box (can't just buy the 40 dollar sensor)

Then the brain box will have an analog out that you can configure
