I used the dremel and heavy duty cut off wheels, went through a lot. You could also use electric sheers or aviation snips. Or an air powered die grinder with a cut off wheel attached to it instead of a disc.

This tool worked best for me. You can cut in nearly a perfect straight line with this tool compared to a power nibbler that walks and vibrates the metal too much over the tank and wiring underneath.

Drill a small hole to start and then cut. A thin band of sheet metal rolls up ahead of the tool as you squeeze the handle and push the tool forward cutting the metal. A slick tool indeed for thin sheet metal or aluminum.

I got mine at Harbor Freight - but it's since been discontinued. You might try this site or any very large tool supply house.

A pair of metal sheers will do this job in under two minutes, once you drill the pilot hole to start your cut. I was thinking dremel but my friend cut the hole like butter with a matched set of metal snips. Dremelling would have taken forever. Seriously.

i dropped my tank first, and then i cut the hole when the tank was out. i used an angle grinder with a steel cutting wheel on it.
