Default Faulty MAP sensor

I was just wondering if broken MAP sensor would affect the performance of the car ?
Also, if it would affect tunning in any way ?
I don't need educated guess, I need answers based on facts only!

Appreciate it guys!

1. Yes, it will affect the performance.
2. Yes. A broken MAP sensor, will affect the tuning.[engine may not run]
3. You spell tuning with 1 "n". [A fact thrown in, for free!]

Didn't need a spellcheck but I appreciate it
Well, I just fixed my MAP sensor last night, I wonder how big of a difference is this going to be, if any.
Car was dyno tuned with broken MAP sensor and pulled 402rwhp.
Will see.
Thanks man!

Several critical tables use MAP as a reference point. You will definitely want to check the tune.

A MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure) is one of the sensors used in an internal combustion engine's electronic control system. Engines that use a MAP sensor are typically fuel injected. The manifold absolute pressure sensor provides instantaneous pressure information to the engine's electronic control unit. This is necessary to calculate air density and determine the engine's air mass flow rate, which in turn is used to calculate the appropriate fuel flow. (

An engine control system that uses manifold absolute pressure to calculate air mass, is using the speed-density method. Engine speed (RPM) and air temperature are also necessary to complete the speed-density calculation. Not all fuel injected engines use a MAP sensor to infer mass air flow, some use a MAF sensor (mass air flow).

The higher absolute pressure in the intake manifold increases the air's density, and in turn more fuel can be burned resulting in higher output.

No **** .... now my question is.... what is the point of even tuning the car that has broken MAP sensor ?....
If You ask me... I think it is totally pointless....
