Small Block & Big Block Chevy Specific - max cam lift for 350?

ok, my dad has a '70 chevelle malibu with the BONE stock 350, and im just wondering what is the maximum lift the stock heads can take? thanks.

You should replace the springs regardless, they're 37yrs old. Personally, I'd stay around .500" or less with pressed in studs. Any lift above that isn't going to help much unless you have the heads ported.

were actually putting ported camelhumps on it also, so how big could we go then???

What diameter spring are you running?

It depends on what you do with those heads. With the right springs and valves you can go pretty big on the lift. Stock I would say .470" total lift might be pushing things. Best to measure though. Two things to check are coil bind and valve seal clearance.
