Back in November I was on the Qwest webiste to see if DSL was available in my area, according to the site it was so I ordered it.
They sent me a modem and connected a phone line. After a couple of days of trying to connect the modem I gave up and called their customer service.
They sent out a few techs and all they wanted to do was check the lines in the house. I said no because at that point the phone worked just not the DSL. And also I knew they would want to replace the lines regardless of what they found and charge an arm and a leg in the process. So they ended up checking the line outside the house and left. I thought it was strange that they left with saying anything. I called agian and I was told that they would send someone out again. Again the tech wants to check the lines inside of the house and I said no. Then after an hour or so the tech come back to the door and tell me that Im to far from the hub and that the signal was to weak to get service.
So I call to cancel the service. I get a final bill of $163.29 for a service that they never provided. I call a few times and bitch and complain and I was told that I would have to pay the $60 in connection fees. I was pissed about that but it was better than the $160. I was told to wait for the new final bill and pay that. So a month goes by and I get a final notice to pay or it will be turned over to collections and its still $163.29. Now I'm really pissed. So I call them to bitch some more. And they dont want to fix a damn thing. Just want me to pay. So I did.
So all in all, I had to pay them stupid F'ers a $163.20 for them to tell me I cant get DSL.
All I can do is file a complaint with the BBB. God damn, I hate that company.

Thats when I would damage their trucks in payback. I think a brick thru the windshield would be about $163.

That wouldn't hurt them in the least. But a bunch of bad PR would.

When my friend was setting up his business downtown Seattle, he called Qwest to get DSL put in. They told him he could not get it on the side of the street he was on and would have to pay for them to run lines. It was so ironic because from his store you can throw a rock and hit Qwest Field. You would think they would have that place just plastered with coverage.

There's a better avenue than the BBB. Call the Washington State Utilities and Transportation Commission. From their website (http://www.wutc.wa.gov/);

Mission
The WUTC protects consumers by ensuring that utility and transportation services are fairly priced, available, reliable and safe.

Wow, thats horrible. I have qwest as well. They were a little shady in the beginning. They told me I couldnt have it that my line wasnt qualified. The fact of the matter was I was using a different long distance carrier. I switched to them and all of a sudden my line is qualified. WTF?!?

And I have to agree. The BBB is basicly useless. Its a place to complain to but thats it, they have no power of resolution in any matter. Its a farce as far as I'm concerned.

I actually work for Comcast sales and I find it absolutely hilarious when people threaten to go to Qwest because they are "cheaper". Sorry to hear what happened to you, but I hear this kind of story on a regular basis about Qwest. So when people do threaten to go do them I simply say..."Well mr/ms/mrs customer, when it's all said and done......you have to do what is BEST FOR YOU. Do remember though, one thing will always stay true....you get what you pay for".

I know Comcast is no where near perfect, but I like to think we treat our customers for the most part about 185.5% better then Qwest :)

I have yet to EVER have a CHOICE...

it's a cartel between the providers
everyone is completely trapped into whatever they have (everywhere I have lived)

so, even if I wanted to leave the shitty service of Comcast for the shitty service of quest or charter or wave or anything else,
I can't

my only choice is dialup :bang:

Unless you have to have a Static IP address to work from home and access a company computer, in that case Comcast is outrageous and can lick my Chod.

Plus Comcast has always treated me like ass.

I still have Comcast digital Cable though.

I had AT&T send me a bill before when I was a Customer of GTE. I argued out my eyeballs that I was not their customer and hadn't been for over a year and I sure as hell wasn't going to pay that bill and they insisted that I was...I argued with several people and finally gave up...until I went home and told Ellis. All he did was call them up and mention a Lawyer and Spamming and they fixed it...Bastards..I was and still am Pissed off about that..

I can only imagine what your feeling Ryan...That is crazy that they are making you pay that. Unbelievable!

That is so true Russ...

Don't you and Ryan live together? I am cocnfused on him setting up internet unless he moved.

As for the 163 dolla, perhaps it is a fine for the kiddy porn :jest: :jest:

J/K Ryan, don't pay them, fight it. Pay with a major credit card and let them fight it for you, AE is great for that. They win all the time.

Still live together. Just wasn't pleased with all of the down time with Comcast.

All the porn is Russ's department. So I have no idea why I should pay his fine.

I did pay with a credit card. I wanted to make sure I had a paper trail.

Thanks to all for the ideas.
