Texas Members - FEELER THREAD Mustang VS LS1 Shootout DFW AREA

There is some intrest from some of the guys over at DFWStangs on wanting to do a Mustang VS LS1 Shootout. I said I would put a thread up & see if there is any intrest?

DFWStangs has some low 5 sec 1/8 mile cars & we would do Class's.

Who all would be interested in doing this?

what side am i on???well considering it's not a chevy vs ford event it's a LS1(any car with a LS1 motor in it) vs stang(any ford motor) you have to be on the LS1 side since thats what the whole debate is usually about! :judge:

Where's it gonna' be? I'm not big on 1/8th mile as she's just starting to breath at that point. Also, we need some clarification as to who can run. Are you looking for anyone who feels like racing some mustang or do you want the fastest LS1s in DFW? I'm definitely not one of those, but sure like kicking the crap out of some mustangs. :devil:

edit: keep it 1/8th mile, my 4th doesnt like to "race" anymore and I don't know when its getting fixed. but for 1/8th mile I am down 100%

Yeah let us know rules,time, place, etc.

I'd say see how many will actually go and match them fastest to slowest like 25 vs 25 or 50 vs 50 just depending? get some kind of commitment from at least 25 cars on each side and if more show up then just line em' up! or so how the old Buick vs Ford shootout was set up?

Question is we need to break it in to class's & have at least 25 cars from each side commited to this.

I was thinking something like a Fast Ford rule setup

Factory Stock (BOLT ONS ONLY) No cam or Heads or Intake's
Pure Street Cam & heads & bolt ons (NO POWER ADDER)
ALL OUT CLASS ( No Rules, Run what you brung
Street Radial Class ( No rules) Street tires only.

Any suggestions? Open to idea's

You'd almost have to do it like the old Buick vs Ford events...run what you brung and only allow a max tire of 28x10.

I would like to see a All Out, No rules, race what you brung.

My Mustang runs 6.8's on motor...haven't sprayed it yet.

That's what I want to know. A little spray and bolt ons isn't going to scare anyone in a run what you brung format. We need one bracket class. I guess I could run in the street tires class. That sort of evens things out.

I think Andrew has gone 5.4's. He is taking it slow with the car from what I have read. Its a really nice car. Petty 449ci with a 106. I think he is only running 14 psi right now too. Definately more in it.

I have it on a 33 x 10.5W tire right now for KOTH but have a set of 29.5 x 10.5s in the garage that I might eventually get around to putting on to run in TTT5 Limited Street. Either way I know I don't have enough car to break any records, but if I can go a round or two here and there I'm happy. Oh, to have a 25.2 double framerail chassis, and a big block ford with twins! lol

only if I had more money to throw at my car I could be turbo too. the turbo stangs around here are freaken fast. I haven't really seen any fast turbo ls1 cars around dfw.
