Default rev kit questions

I was looking at cams for my TA(mods in sig) and was suggested that a rev kit would help protect the valvetrain to allow me to spin the motor past 6k. Maybe up to 6500-6800 even. Any thoughts, opinions etc.. will be greatly appreciated.

P.S. will the AFR rev kit work with Comp R lifters? Any body know how much the AFR kits cost? Thanks!

Does anyone even make a rev kit? I've seen a couple of pics posted on LS1tech over the years, but they were all custom / self built kits.

only 28.5k, but I'd like to be able to spin to 6500-6800. Taking off the heads is not really in the budget, so if a rev kit won't do it, then it's not worth it.

I've never heard of a "rev kit" but you would need supporting mods to do that, what kind of "hotcam" do you have, what are the specs?

as long as you got good valve springs, you will not need a rev kit. crane #144833 or comp #26921 stuff will be fine.

Only rev kit that I was aware of was one built by the old Agostino Racing Engines. They basically took an AFR LT1 kit and made seperate parts for ti to fit the LS1. Unfortunately back in the day when they were producing these (1998-1999 time frame) there were not a lot of cams that required them so the demand was low and they stopped producing them. I called them a few years ago before the turmoil, and they said they were no longer available. Too bad.

I saw one on eBay last year and asked the guy about it. He said it was from some place in Texas or Florida (I forget now). Another forum member made his (nice looking purple anodized pieces). Too bad they arent available.

Just noticed you have an LT1... So yea, the AFR Rev kit will work for you. In my opinion they should help out any hydraulic roller setup. It will allow you to run less valve spring so you do not have the hydraulic lifter colaps and then pump up problem yet you can still maintain the same amount of valvetrain control that would require considerably more spring if you did not have it. The advantage is it applies the pressure to the lifter housing instead of directly to the lifter plunger.

If I'm reading right, the original poster is asking about a rev kit for a 1995 TA, which is an LT1, so SBC parts should fit the bill. I'm curious what springs are in your GTP heads and why you couldn't reach your goal with them?

Looks like AFR's kit would work fine...

Hydra-Rev is available now for Chevrolet V8 small block and V6 engines except the cast iron LT1 Impala and Vortec truck heads, Pro Action Iron Lightning or Dart Iron Eagle.

I've got the hotcam now, but will be getting a bigger cam. Springs I have now don't have enough pressure for the size cam I'm looking for. Was gonna go with the Comp 280XFI but I'm re thinking that one. I want something to spin a little higher than the 280XFI. I was advised a rev kit would help, but is it worth the price (which I still don't know btw)
