Default Went from stick to auto-now how do I dyno this car properly?

Hi guys. I just converted my Z06 from a 6 speed to auto. Now my question is how do I properly tune the car on the dyno? I'm using HPtuners-can I start logging-then open up the VCM controls and lock the car in 3rd gear then lock up the converter? I have a 5 disc lockup vig. Thanks!

If you have the appropriate ECM harness and calibration (OS) file, you should be able to.

I would flash a temporary trans-altered tune in to hold it in 3rd more often with a more aggressive lock-up table for 3rd while your on the dyno. Then, you can help hold it in 3rd with the gear selector in the car. Using bi-directional controls to do things like that can take up some of the bandwith in the communication between your software and the PCM from what I've observed. So in the interest of data, I wouldn't do it the way you described.

What do I change to make it hold in 3rd gear on the dyno and lock up the converter for the pull?

To hold 3rd gear (via a temp tune) during a dyno pull:
Set WOT 3-->2 Down Shift Speed to below 20 MPH
Ensure WOT Enable is set to 90% maximum (or less)

To lock TCC in 3rd gear (via a temp tune) during a dyno pull:
Set entire TCC Apply Speed Table to 30 MPH
Set entire TCC Release Speed Table to 20 MPH
Set the entire TCC Minumum Duty Cycle Table to 99
Set the entire TCC Maximum Duty Cycle Table to 100

The duty cycle is to lock up the TCC instantly, rather then smoothly like OE intended. Since you have a beefed up TCC (multi-disc) it will not hurt anything, OEM converters won't like this.

Thats the first auto z06 conversion. Good luck with the project and keep use updated.
