Gen 5 Camaro Internal Engine Tech - Not Happy With the Look

Hey guys. Despite the obvious enthusiasm over the introduction of the new Camaro, I feel inclined to express my feelings on the look of the car. I'm not happy at all with how Chevy decided to make the Camaro look. I understand that they may want a new look to go with the new generation, but it isn't really a "new" look at all. To me, it appears to be a combination of a '06 Mustang and the new Charger. That's just me, though.

I'm not just saying this because I love Camaro's, but there is very little I would change about the Camaro concept. I love that it looks like a modern interpretation of the 69'. It doesn't look anything like a Mustang or a Charger. I will be the first in line at the local Chevy dealership when they come out.

I never have been much of a fan of concept sketches anyway...They always look too cartoony to me. Maybe when it comes out and I see the actual thing i might be able to appreciate it more. I think the Bright orange with black stripes is throwing me off...It doesn't remind me of the American Staple car that is the Camaro...Now that I think about it, the car probably will look ok once i see it in a single color.
i been thinking about the looks. i like it, but i dont like the grill to much :judge:

I would disagree, I love the look of the new Camaro (of course I will have to see it in person to totally be sold) but two things scare me. A huge price tag (hope not) and a pig of a car, if it's $40K and weighs 4,000 lbs I'll have to pass.

I agree about the price issue, but I'd rather have a 420hp 4000lb Camaro than a 300hp 3500lb Mudstain!

If you haven't seen it in person yet, give it a chance. It looks very curvy and aggressive in person. Smaller and sportier looking than the Challenger does in person. The Challenger looks huge and flat in person, with its slab sides.

I love the way it looks. It's going to kick ass in black. It's beyond the retro look, IMO. As said above, it's a great modern rendition of a classic design.

i agree i dont like it but i think its mainly because of the grill. I think the aftermarket will take care of that though. Well have to wait i dont plan on buying one anyway just in case they release a firebird a year or two later. I would hate myslef

i seen it at the auto show a while back, and it does look good in person real aggressive. it looks way better than some of the pictures in magazines and such. i personally like the new body style, i can't wait to own one.

Personally, I agree with NineBall. You really must see it in person. While some people will never appreciate it, the concept has received overwhelming acclaim from most people who've seen it. I like it in pictures. In person I consider it one of the most remarkable vehicle designs I've ever seen.
If nothing else, please look at it as being a Camaro. One of the biggest problems with most current automobile design is the tendancy to use "cookie-cutter" designs. This design is distinctly Camaro. There is no way anyone who looked at previous generations of the Camaro could ever look at this one and be able to label it as anything but.

Guys that complain about the grille crack me up. Like the 98-02 grille is any better, lol. Nice tacked on piece of Fisher-Price textured plastic there! Not to mention the "Catfish" mouth appearance we all love.

I like the upcoming Camaro AND the Challenger. I also like the new Mustang. I think the car companies came up with some interesting designs. The new Camaro has retro cues without being completely retro. I'm not a fan of the grill on the 'vert show car but I'm sure we'll see aftermarket ones come out.

Right now I like it alot though.

I think its bad ass, I cant really see how it looks like a mustang+challenger. the challenger is built on the 300c chasis so the camaro is definatly smaller then that. Im definatly a pontiac fan, but since I wont be able to get a new bird, i guess I can settle for a new camaro :eyes:
haha
and if someone doesnt like the new look I have the perfect solution... Don't Buy It :thumb:

i agree the 98+ grill is also a big plastic POS luckily im a firebird guy and i dont have to worry about it. But i didnt mean the material i dont like the way it looks. That one computer generated rs concept has a much nicer looking grill and it actually goes with the chevy line up a lot better. I dont understand why it comes to a point and recesses back so agressively. it reminds me of a 93-97 firebird but im not judging too harshley because like you said, i havnt yet seen it in person so ill hold major reservations till then and in the meantime these are only comments.

I'm not too much for the new camaro right now, i think the designers need to design something completely different not take a 35 year old car and smooth the edges for today. But i guess with the mustang, challenger, and camaro the designers have no better ideas. I think the ls1 t/a's were the best looking f-body and they werent a retro design. With that said i cant say i wont like it in person, the challenger i think looks great in person, on the bright side at least gm is actually giving the camaro another chance..JMO
