Default what cam to run with TSP PRC 5.3 2.5R heads?

I just bought a used set of the heads, and have a TR224 cam already. What would you all suggest? I do not want to flycut the pistons, and I plan on hopefully milling the heads.

If you go over 228 i wouldnt be milling too much without flycutting with those heads.

i *just might* stay with the 224 cam - I hope I don't have to flycut the pistons with that even, and would also want to know how much i can mill. I think I can do to 61cc according to Patrick, but then again, there is so much to consider. 2.04/1.575 valves, 228cc etc ... blech ... i am having a time of it understanding it all. Time to read on the internet about heads

Best thing to do to be 100% sure is it pick a cam and set of heads, install them, and perform a clay PTV test. That way you will know exactly how much you can safely mill.

I dont think a 61 cc head chamber without flycutting will work, especially with those valves. I have 2.055/1.57 and they are some thick *** valves.

if i go with a cam i will just run a .040" gasket with no milling most likely. Will something like an MS3 work w/out flycutting since i have a 2.04 valve?

Basic rule of thumb is you never swap for stock and you never go just a few degrees bigger. That being said:

The tr224 and those heads are one of the best street combos out there (without milling the heads) without question. IF you have to have a bigger cam then you should be thinking in the g5x3 range 234/242, wich will fit under those heads without flycutting I believe. Other big cams dont. Check with LG about that. But swapping a 224 for a 226 or 228 is kind of pointless and to be honest I put down the same numbers as an fm13 with my tr224 so I wouldnt go there either. Talk to TSP about clearance on their cams. Call them. Your going to give up torque even if you mill the **** out of the heads, your giving up torque with a bigger cam and pushing your power band further up the rpms.
