STS Turbo Hi I have just bought a 2001 Pontiac Transa Am, 100% stock. I was thinking about forced induction and was reading about STS Turbo systems. I was also wondering if it is safe to run 5psi, on a stock engine?

Check out everything we ended up doing on this STS Camaro SS. An ATI ProCharger would of been much easier, as we had many problems with a lot of the parts. Bob

here is also my link to my build on my STS. I do have a racetronix PnP 255 fuel kit and i have 42#injectors

they say up to 7psi on the stock block, I'm running 5 and i will probably run 6. but yeh, 5 psi is fine. Its all in the tune

a REAL turbo kit would be custom. as 99% of the 'kits' have flaws and bullshit in them.
Define REAL. if it makes boost and makes power.... kiss my grits, lol.

It's a pimp kit, you get to keep your A/C, it's emissions legal and the install is by far more simplified than traditional front mounted turbo kits.
5 psi is EASY on mostly stock everything...42# inectors are probably the least you should go, and you need at least a 255lph fuel pump.
Eventually, the stock clutch will go and rear-end depending on your driving habits...but many have had a great deal of success on the 10 bolt. Basically, don't replace it until you break it.
Better valve springs are suggested but not mandatory. It really is about a good solid tune.
STS tested all their stuff on fully stock motors and ran 8psi with no problems. There are people running 7 - 800 HP on the stock bottom ends. The LS1 is a lot stronger than a lot of people give it credit for...

Hey Bob,
I was looking at the SS build you mention above. Sounds like the connecting boots are crap. I saw that you mounted the turbo with a solid hanger as it seemed to sag after some time. Did you remove the rubber exhaust hangers? I just bought the used 3.5" twin intercoolers you were selling on your site and was planning to use them with the STS. Would you recomend replacing all the rubber with a better quality? Sorry if this went off topic

All FI kits have issues. The nice thing about the STS kit is the fact that your engine bay remains uncluttered. As mentioned by EPP, there are fitment issues that need to be worked out (but they can be worked out).
You will need more fuel to fully exploit the potential, even at 5 psi. However, an intercooler is not needed.

Usually when people say stock bottom end thats means stock pistons/rods ect... People are putting much more than 900 on the stock block.. Actually the only way I have seen someone kill one of these blocks is with a shitty tune.
