Parts are in and build up is about to begain!
Well I finally made my mind up on what to buy and purchased it a few weeks ago. After a long and tiring two months of researching and calling a ton of sponsors and PMing people. I purchased a set of AFR 205's with up graded springs, getting milled to 59cc and port matching the 90mm fast, a custom specked cam by Patrick G, cometic .040" MLS gaskets, 7.4" PRs, Cam gasket kit, exhaust gaskets, crank bolt and a sphoon drag sway bar.
I purchased all this through Thunder Racing. I bought my first cam package from them. And I knew I couldn't go wrong. They were great to deal with. I did not have to wait long at all for my parts. And was very attentive in my needs. Thanks Jonathan.
And also thanks to all the sponsors for taking the time to talk with me and put together a price for your products. I know it takes a little bit of time to prepare stuff like that for potential customers.
It really made it hard to make a decision on what to purchase. So many good products and so many good companies out there to deal with!
And thank you Patrick for helping me out. I know you get a ton of people bombarding you with questions.
OK, now back to the build.. The cam sheet reads 235.8/236.0, .651/.651 110.0lsa.
Afr 205s 59cc, .040" gaskets. Shooting for a compression of around 11.3 or 11.5 to 1.
Pistons are already cut to .120" int and .140" ext. So I don't think there will be a problem with PTVC.
The intake will get port matched to the heads along with the milling. Which is getting done locally by a big dog porter around here. Worked for schumacher racing and Steve schmitt Racing. Which is down the road from me.
I was in schmitt racing today and the guy took me in the back to meet the porter, he showed me a 427 LS6 on the shelf the put down 650Fwhp with 9.5 to 1 comp.
So I trust him!
For all you wondering, this is a stock bottom end with 45K on the clock. All other supporting mods are done.
I hope this thing rocks.
I will be posting pics soon. The car has been tor down for a few months awaiting my decision on parts.
I skipped the boring parts of that. Going straight to the good part... The build up!

I will be posting all the results as they are completed. I hope Chad gets the tune on the money!! I think he will. LOL.
I've lived around the Indpls area all my life and I have seen places like Steve Schmidtt Racing start from the beginning.
There is another guy around here that does pro stock heads and pro stock bikes. I'm going to see him today.

I dropped the heads off at Mike Duke Racing. He was a cool guy. His home based shop was awesome. He is going to flow the heads on his bench. I'm not sure what model it is. And I will post those results.
He also measured the intake ports and checked those with the intake. He said they were very close. They should match up just fine.
He has some beautiful engines sitting around there.

Why dont you clay it before you have the heads milled? That way you know how much room you have to work.

Well I finally got the heads back from Mike Duke Racing. And he ended up milling them to 58cc's. Instead of 59cc's. But the cam still fits OK. We put the cam in tonight and started to measure it out.
Here's how we clayed it. We used the stock sized graphite gasket which I think is .054". We filled the reliefs with clay a little past the top of the piston. Bolted on the head after wiping a little oil on the valves. We bolted the heads down pretty tight with the ARP bolts.
Put in the 7.400" push rods. Then bolted on the comp 1.75 rockers since they were adjustable. We set them to zero lash with the lifters on the base circle of the cam. And 2 old lifters were welded up for testing purposes.
We then rotated the motor over a few times. Then took the rockers off to look at the wipe pattern. It was pretty centered.
Took the heads off and the intake barely hit the clay by maybe .040". The exhaust did not even hit the clay.
I was pleased.
Now keep in mind I am using a cometic .040" gasket and a stock 1.70 rocker arm on the final assembly.
Is there any measurement that we failed to think of? I'm pretty sure my friend helping me is very good at this as he is a 15+ year certified service tech. And he has built tons of ford junk.

Well, we got the heads on tonight. Everything went smooth.
My friend said it looks like these AFR heads take a differant kind of spark plug. Like one with a washer on it. Instead of the tapered stock style.
Is this true?
