like the title says,
which will help me more for drag racing,
wider tires smaller series or taller tires, not as wide?

my car is a 2005 pontiac gto, I am limmited by the fenders and suspension for tire size

P255/50R16 26 X 10.50R16
P275/40R17 26 X 11.50R17

Narrower tire with taller sidewall will get you better traction. I should look for it online but there was a good article on drag tires and effects in GMHTP about mid last year. The width helps on an uneven surface but you'll get better traction with a taller sidewall that can cushion and push down more on the tread. That's why all pro teams run 15" wheels with huge by tall slicks for the best of both.
