ok ive been building up a 13:1 compression 496 with plans of spraying it big with a direct port. Ive been hearing 2 diff things, high compression likes n20 and that it doesnt!? Just trying to straighten this out before i go any further. im considering a piston swap already before i get my heads. I have SRP 43cc domed pistons now. any advice i would appreciate. any head gasket recomendation?? Ive had my eye on the fel pro MLS.

15.8-1 no problems with a 500+ hit.

Im in the proccess of building a large cube SB and i contacted shannon jenkins shop SPEEDTECH and they informed me that alot of compression is not ideal for LARGE nitrous shots. My plan was to put together a 14.1 motor then hit it with 2 stages of juice for a 600 shot total, and they told me that the more chamber volume you can get the better. They said i should shoot for a compression ratio of 12.1 no more that 13.1. The main reason i called them, well lets say his reputation in the nitrous world, stands alone. These are the top performers in NOS all out race cars.

lol, here we go again!! Im only having a 13:1 ratio, the chamber volume does make sense, but then again like above ^ 15:1 with a 500 shot no problem.. :confused: and good work with the vette, :drive:

Believe me im with you on this one, the last motor combo i used had, 15.1 and sprayed up to 300 and had zero problems and ran that motor for 5 yrears. But now im in with a new motor build and, i was directed to these guys and that is the info they gave me. There not the only ones either to say that. I actually changed my plans on this motor build and bought new cyl heads to better fit my application. I was going to use the heads i already have, but they are 42cc chambers and on the bigger motor i wont be able to get the compression low enough. 13.1 should be fine, thats really not considered alot of compression these days.
