Street Racing & Kill Stories - 4 wide racing on interstate...

ok so last night at about 2 am me and a few friends were out.

it was my 02 SS M6, 02 GT, 98 Z28 B4C, 98 Z28 M6 and we did a 4 way role on the interstate cause there was no traffic around. the middle car (the mustang) honked and we went. as soon as we kicked it me and the 98 Z28 jumped out front and the B4C was not far behind and then the GT behind him. my radar started going freakin crazy i looked in my rear view mirror and saw cars haulin ass towards us. i dove off the nearest exit and they kept going i flashed my lights and everything at them and they didnt see. i even tried calling them but it was too late we get to where we were going and both 98's and the GT got impounded and they all 3 got arrested for illegal drag racing and a number of other things. i slid up in the back of the parking lot and came up and asked a cop what was going on and he told me what i already knew so then i went to the police station to see what was gonna happen. there parents were pissed as f*ck (ofcourse) but i didnt get anything they clocked the 98 M6 at 169mph, the 98 B4C at 164mph, & the GT at 148mph they have to wait until monday to talk to the judge about getting there cars back and whats going to happen... talk about im a lucky S.O.B.

Dumb. Very dumb. Glad 3 of the 4 got caught.

Ive went 150 1 time on the highways at night by myself, just to see how it felt....

mine wasnt going as fast as them i was only at 150 then i let off cause i knew them lights behind me were cops and i shot down the next exit. they passed me and kept going and didnt let up. it was stupid and normally i wouldnt do it but i dont know i just did. no one was on the interstate actually it was weird there was not a single car going down it or up it which i have never seen before. anyways thats going to slow me down...

i shut off at 115 too...winning or loosing

i wouldnt ever do 180 on a damn bike at least in a car your inside and you are kinda protected...

150+ they have to call up several miles up the road just to give them a chance and cutting you off.they cant follow at those speeds and if they radio a couple miles it wont matter cause your already there

HAHAHA that sucks!!! I've done a few runs up to 160+ in the old car. Last time i went 140+ i got caught! Flew bye a cop w/ someone pulled over and he radioed ahead, of course i pulled over. I was soooooooo lucky there was no radar gun pointed at me, all they could write me up for was 105+. I got to drive away in my car with a ticket and keep my liscence, but i had to pay $1800!!! Insurance only went up $10/mo.

Forgot to mention beltronics. Great radar.

You got lucky, but in someways, you were more prepared then the rest of your friends. At least now they all have proof who traps the lowest on the interstate.

Yar make sure your buddies invest in a radar detector after they pay off all their fines. I wouldn't even get on the freeway without mine it has saved me so many times. Even from a for sure DUI, that right there paid for it 6x over.

I did about 165 on my bike and that was scary enough. The most I've ever gone in my car is only like 125...I just have no desire to go that quick. I need to hit the strip to get some 110+ traps legally.

I've done 125mph on my old '03 Suzuki SV650 (close to topspeed), 140 twice in my Mustang (still pulling, should go a bit over 150), and 142 in my mom's '03 S2000 (still pulling as well). Not very bright, but it was on a rarely-travelled country backroad all of those times, so atleast I would have only killed myself :jest:

I know its stupid but ive gone those speeds on more than 1 ocasion when I race my buddies street bike were side byside his speedo said 170 + yall can say what yall want (flamesuit on) when compition is good im not lettin up. who care 115 to 175 if you wreck in a fbody your dead. One thing to keep in mind is that a sportbike's speedo is waaaaaaay off at speeds that high (they read alot higher than actual)

but he point im tryin to make is 100+ , wreck and hit somethin your chance of living is not good. My buddy who owns a wrecker service picked up a f body that hit a bridge at 35 was horrible. Im not sayin hollin ass is cool im stating my personal experiences . yeah its a huge difference but hit a tree or something stationary at those speeds watch the carnage. Im not talkin about spinning out ,im talkin speeding than to a complete stop

It doesnt have to do with the chance of living through a wreck, its the chances of actually wrecking. Youre pretty much dead even at 115 IF you wreck.

At 115 the car is way more stable than at 170+ which decreases the chance of actually losing control.

I think for me, that i know myself as a driver and try to avoid going over 130 because:

1. Its a public road. Maybe it wont be you that screws up, it could be Jane Doe with her 5 kids in a Toyota Sienna that doesn't see you in the same lane because you are no more than an angry sounding blur to her. That and she has never used her mirrors for more than make up.

2. at 130 I firmly believe that my wilwood 4 way discs can bring me down to less than felony speeds quicker than at, say 150, or so.

3. I enjoy life.I almost get killed everyday just driving interstate 5 in a subaru, 5 mph under the speed limit, due to everyone else.

Just my .02 cents.

And as a side note, my cobra radar, not the best at all, has still saved me at least 10 tickets so far. Damn highway 101 and its 50mph sexy curves.

There's so many things wrong with this statement. most say they will go to 115 for a variety of reason the first being that if you slam on your breaks because you know your oging to wreck you cna be odwn to 65-70 miles per hour in no time. that cna and will save your life. There's such a huge different in statistics at the mph your talking about.

Well considering they are like 18 im going with the former.

I've been to 150 once, in my VR4, and to 130 in the vette, 125-130 in the Mustang (seems like 200 in the stang lOL), and I doubt I will ever see 150 again. The older the get, the slower I go. I do see 120 once a week just for a second or two. But 0-100, heh, everyday. :) :drive:

oh yeah they told me when they were in the cop car the cop said since yall are going to jail who won and the 98 M6 owner said i did he said what about 2nd and the 98 B4C owner said i did and then the guy with the GT said im getting arrested and i lost. the cop said thats what you get for buying a Mustang... i laughed my @$$ off!!!

Yup, i've done that. When I was 17 I took my 89 5.0 out on the highway the first night i had it, and took it to 130 in pounding rain. I can't believe i didnt die, and i can honestly say i have never been that stupid since. Regular dry roads racing i try to keep it below about 125 or 130, my insurance is bad enough already.

Im also a bit curious about this LS1 getting tagged at 169?

did you have aftermarket gauges in your 5.0?? cause i know the stockers only went to 85...

undercover crown vis then city sheriff county cars came up. they saw them hit the exit and figured where they were going (its like a car hang out on fri & sat nights). he told them if they woulda kept going he wouldnt have been able to get them. undercovers didnt use there lights the countys did. idk how the hell they clocked them i guess they radio'd ahead or something...

How did the vics' get close enough to see which exit and see car description for arrest?
How long was the race in miles? Radio's are fast, but unless the popo was staking out the highway at the begining and end of your race they wouldnt have had time to do all that.

So, you were racing and all of a sudden several vic's are comming up on you? Obviously you didnt pass them on the side of the road or else everyone would have seen them. If they came from an on ramp there is no way you would have noticed them because you'd be going too fast (unless you started from a dig).
So then the cops radio ahead to another cop that several cars need to be radared, but radar will only pick up one car and not delineate which one. No way a cop could tell you with accuracy which car was 164 and 168 if they were near each other. Did the cop make the speeds up?
Could you get at least two of the other three drivers to post up here? I'd like to read how the cops located them at a common hang out, etc. Don't take this the wrong way but either the bust was extraordanary, or the story is BS.

i let off early cause my radar was going off i thought it was going to be like 45mph-120mph ish they kept going then a undercover vic flew past me the one my radar was picking up. he radio'd ahead to other cops. the local hang out we were going to is a local street racing meet every fri and sat they pulled in calmly and as soon as they got out of there cars they were arrested. i'll try to get them to post they are off limits to everything (by there parents) so it may be awhile. i guess the undercover cop radio'd ahead enough or there was already some cops down that way and clocked them im just telling you what the cops told my friends.

Fastest ive ever gone was 160 on a first time nitrous run....then the belt snapped.....god had something to do with that cause i was JUST about to watch the speedo move past 160. ill never forget how crazy that was, you cant even really brake to slow down like you normally do, your almost prisoner to coasting and LIGHTLY tapping the brakes....and prayin no police are around lol.

In my more youthful days I did 160mph on my bike. Passed a cop and saw him hit the lights for about 2 seconds then shut them down. I just kept on going to the next exit and zoomed home.

Looking back now I can't believe how stupid I was.
160 + rock in road = Dead rider (if you are lucky)

agreed i can hit 149 pretty easily in my dad's stock 99 gt with 75k miles on it, 150+ is a different story it always seems to take for ever for it to roll over that mark.

Anyway sorry to hear about your friends, I've had a similar experience and also got away

A good running Lt1 can still see the better side of 140+ just takes a little longer to get there.

my buddy and i can personally vouch that you can wreck going over 115 and live to walk away......needless to say though i learned from that night and dont drive like that anymore

The 88 gauges only went to 85mph, they changed it for the 89s. I think the american cars went to 120 or 130mph, mine was a canadian car so it had a 200kph gauge (125mph). And I had it past the 200 mark. Most mustang gauges arent that accurate above that speed but i know mine was since my cousin got tagged at 120mph when i was right beside him (dry roads that time).

And yes, that was one of the dumbest things i have ever done and i wont be doing shit like that again.

It had the speed limiter on it at 120 because it came with the smaller wheels from the factory, I had it removed.... it would get up to 120-125 and then it would just sit at that speed for a while then slowly move up from there, it had a timing adjuster, intake, and full exhaust on it.

I don't know what to tell you on that one... was it an automatic? Cuz 125-130mph is just too slow.

Last race ended at 147 ish ... i should have let off at 110 and i would have won.. but in my case .. late night NO traffic at all ...

I got away that time, the last time I street raced I got busted. I'm just done racing on the street and doing stupid shit. I had to turn down a z06 and a T/A yesterday. :cry:
