Just starting to plan my system build (JL Audio 400/4 & 500/1) amps, and i'm starting to think about where to put them. I don't really want them to be "visable" meaning, that i'm not all about flash or show, so i'm not looking to go in that direction. I was thinking about putting them on the back "wall" of the car, where the tail lights are attached, but then though about how i'd replace the bulbs if they blew, how would i get to them...The second thought i had was to put them on the rear deck, but it's so overdone, everyone seems to put them there...plus, we don't have the luxury of building a "false floor" type install with these cars, as there is no room. I had a though about putting them where the rear seat "butt" sections are. I do not use my rear seat, but will keep them in place...i thought about gutting the "butt" pieces of the seats, and placing the amps there...what do you guys think about that?

I wouldn't put them in the gutted butt seat area. They need to breath and stay cool.......
Take a look at mine, see if this would work for ya......

Yeah, i do like that idea...but i would prefer them to be flush with that area. I know Subthump makes a rack like that...but i'd like to be able to mount the amps so they would be flush, sorta like make a false floor but on that rear panel....you think that's possible? How do you accsses the tail light screws?

to get to the tail lights you have to first remove the amps then the amp rack ....not fun.

What you might think about doing is building an amp rack in your spare tire well... it would take some fabrication....but i dont see why it cant be done? not to mention it would look clean as you could hide all your wires below carpet.

I'm not a big fan of permanently modding my car when it comes to a stereo. I don't want to cut into my seats, or drill holes all over my body, or put fibergalss all over the place, the spare tire well seems to me like the best choice...all out of the way, not visable...but could still be done to look nice if you wanted to show someone. I like that idea the best...but would love to see if someone has done it. I'd be trying to fit two JL Audio amps, 500/1 and 300/4 (both the same size)

If you want to put them in the spare tire well, you could hide the amps all together. I have not seen any one do it but i do have my nitrous bottle back there and i would think you could do it much the same way. I got the 860 bottle mount for my bottle, you could do some thing like that and that way they would be completely out of the way and you don't have to worry about them getting to hot. I don't know just a thought
