Default 1st gen guys

Is there an easy way in telling the difference between the 350 and 400 motor by looking at it. does one have somthing the other doesnt? every picture ive seen of the two look exactly the same. is there anything that stands out between the two.

You need to look at the back of the block by the Transmission on the passenger side there will be a small pyramid sticking up next to the distributor if it has the pyramid it is a 350 if not it's a 400.

Thats the great thing about the pontiac intermediate blocks. Through a 455 in there and leave the 350 badges on and noone is the wiser.

turns out it is a 400, but not an original, it was orginally a 350 firebird and some swapped a 400 but it was a 400 from a 73 firebird. so its a lot less powerful then the 69 400. so now that the original engine isnt in the car like i originally thought, im considering a LS1 swap, in the spring.
