Default Maggie Z06 'tuned' what a joke -HPtuners log att.

Unfortunately not mine, but my work associate just bought this Comm. Ed. Z06 which was supposedly tuned by magnuson (or Lingenfelter.. couldn't ever get a straight answer). He took delivery yesterday. First off, check eng. light. Then it went away, so we scanned it this morning (nice day, 50ish deg out, no rain). We came up with this scan that looks more like the rollercoaster rides at the amusement park.

Anyone with HPtuners that can take a look at it would be appreciated. He's going to take it to have it tuned but wants to make sure he points out the uglies. Or, if you just want a good laugh...

Lingenfelter did my dad's Maggied '99 FRC. I haven't messed with it. But the few times I did get to drive it, it seemed like they did a good job. They fudged the injectors and PE table to get the fueling right and dropped the MAF 4,000RPM threshold to 400RPM. But other than that, I didn't notice anything odd in the tune. Just keep in mind, most "pro" tuners choose the easiest path that gets them the results they're looking for. They figure as long as the results on the WBO2 and dyno look good, then they did good - and to some degree, I concur. However, there are quite a few here that don't.

Well, the guys at LAPD are going to get this thing soon. I'm sure they'll straighten it out. It wouldn't be bad if the "end result" was acceptable, but it's throwing codes (P0171, P0174.. lean -both sides) that tells me it's not even close. The log files proves it. Also, the thing has a pretty erratic idle when first started (see log). I really don't think Magnuson or Lingenfelter ever saw this car.

those codes are usually a mechanical issue...don't get me wrong it "might" be a tuning issue but its also a strong possiblity that it isnt.

Do you guys think the o2s (or ???) might be out? now that would be interesting. On both sides? Why the idle fluctuation at start up?

Ya'd think that with 2k miles on the car (at least that's what the odometer says) it wouldn't have mechanical issues.

Well the question is, has it done this ALL ALONG, or is it a more recent thing?

No way of telling. The history we know in a nutshell... Maggy installed at "under" 2k mi. and car was wrecked at 2k mi. (over the period of 3 years) Over the last year, it has been in the shop getting fixed (front pass. wheel damage/fender/hood) hence the 'salvage' title. (click on link in first post) My work associate just bought it.. no other history. The 171/174 codes were H codes, but the check eng light comes on sporadically.

No, not the "buy it now" price. He got a pretty good deal on it. This was the "before" pics. And, like I mentions.. 2000 mi. on it!

Off topic, I know, but I watched what I thought was one of those commemorative edition ("Blue Lightning?") Vettes get hit on the passenger's side front in Indiana near Evansville. Did the same amount/type of damage. I mean, it looked just like that car. It's been a while ago, though. Maybe in '05. Wonder if it's the same car?

Could easily be the same car. This thing has sat around for over a year. The car fax has records of service coinciding with the actual mileage, but all of it 2 years back.

Frost - I zipped it to try it again. Appreciate it.

I hope it is. You say it's going to get all fixed up then? That's good to know if so.

Though there was one ambulance, I don't think anyone was seriously hurt in the accident I witnessed...

...Except for the driver, who was tragically killed while screaming, "With my last breath I curse whoever next drives this car to suffer a fate worse than my own!" or something unimportant like that.

Either that or he walked away unhamed but with a minor limp. Can't recall 100% for sure.

Man, looking at the timing; it's been tuned, but no tune could be THAT BAD. LTFTs max in places, serious KR... tell him to STOP going WOT or even really driving it.

To me, it looks like something is seriously wrong on the fuel side... Was there an aftermarket pump that was replaced with something else? If could just be a level adjustment at the fuel regulator or something has caused a restriction... Tell him to definitely look at the fuel side.

That's my 2cents good luck with it.

Tune doesn't look that bad. 1 place with 4degs of knock. Probably noise from the maggie. The make alot of noise right on to of the knock sensors especially at low rpms. I use to get that alot with mine. It was at 1400rpm, 44% throttle and 6degs of timming. Probably noise or fuel knock with that low of timming. The WOT timming and O2 volts look in line for a safe street tune. Looks like the part throttle could use a little work in the LTFTS and timing in part throttle has a few rough points. You also mite check for a manifold leak, the intake bolts on the maggie sometimes come loose. Had it happen on mine. If you have a copy of his tune on HPT, I have the 2004 license and can look at it for you..

also, I would add meth inj to it for added safety before the retune...and I would not go more than 16degs of timming at WOT...

It is possible that the MAF just needs to be cleaned. A few people have brought me their car running rough and the problem was a dirty MAF from over oiling the filter.
