Default Tranny problems..

just got the car a week ago and i'm already having major problems I think.. if i'm driving normally (never going above 2K) it drives fine but if i get on it in any gear the motor bogs down and i hear a metal on metal clanking and a strong vibration in the shifter? WTF?

Sounds like you have a drivability issue with the motor not the trans.
Is it pinging & bogging down/ no power?
I would not drive it get that fixed before you hurt it.
Could be a bad fuel pump/low pressure.
Is the SES light on?

not pinging but it does bog down.. no SES. I washed my motor today.. could water have gotten into the opti? i was really careful about that because i dont want to change that until i have to. i would almost rather it be the opti than the tranny.

Sounds like it could be the opti. My buddies LT1 did that same thing when his opti went out. it drove fine under normal driving, but if he got on it around 4-5k rpms the car would bog down and backfire. he replaced the opti and all problems went away.

i new i shouldn't have cleaned the motor.. but it really needed it! is there anything else it could be or that i should try before spending $500?

**edit**
how could it be the opti if it makes a clanking noise?
