Boost is really relative ( you probably already know that ) BUT on KP's 347ci it made 16 or 17psi...That was with headers and pretty good flowing heads...It's obviously going to have less on a bigger cube engine...

ya.. maybe i should be more specific.. my application will be a 347 with a lunati crank, compstar rods, lunati pistons.. i already have a set of patriot stage 2 heads port and polished.. comp cams 224 228 at 114. mac long tubes.. and will be installing a fast intake with the engine. i want to make at least 16 psi.. if a D1SC will do it great.. but if anyone thinks i should go with at better head unit let me know. All three of these cars use a D-1SC. 16 psi seems to be about the upper limit to the D-1SC. Since you're wanting to push at least 16 psi, I would go with the F1A head unit. Bob

Also I would probably not spend the money on a FAST!!! You really have no reason to have a larger manifold because you are forcing air through anyway. There are alot of guys making 700+ on an ls6 manifold. I have seen 1000hp too. I just think that $800 could be spent elsewhere. IMO

Correct, if anything go with a GMPP or Victor Jr. Carb style intake...

You have a very similar setup to mine and around sea level I'm seeing 17psi with max impeller speed at 7000rpm. I probably could eliminate a couple bends in the piping and pick up a little more also. Honestly the car doesnt really pick up a lot with that 2 extra psi I get from swapping from a 7.25/3.7 to 7.25/3.4 pulley and you have less chance of head gasket issues. I'm going back to the D1 until I do a new engine, going to nurse this one for the rest of the summer - I bought a new trailer so that was my new engine money for the year The F1A works a little better then I thought lol, I'll save it for a new big headed/big cammed 370 or 402.

I wouldnt use the FAST intake, too many guys had leaks with it and its really not worth any extra power. But if you have it you may as well use it..

cool. kp why do you like the ls6 cam you have so much?? y not go bigger, could'nt you make more power?? im not the smartest guy when it comes to forced induction engines.. do you think the patriot stage 2 heads ported and polished would still be ok to use with a 202 valve... or would you go bigger? i think im gonna with a stock crank too. i see alot of people say they hold alot of power..thx for all your help

LS6 cam has been gone for a while, I have a 222/228 115 XE comp in there now. The LS6 cam worked great but over 14 psi or so adding more boost really never made the car any quicker so I was about as far as I could go with it I think.

Lot of guys have been using patriots on moderate boost cars with good luck. Stock crank will be fine.

15-16psi is what I used to run, 3.4/7.250 pulley combo with a SDCE 8 rib set up and a monster 233/244 .578/.602 cam....up here at 5600ft.

cool.. one more question.. the engine that is in my car now has a knock.. i think its a spun rod bearing. heads are off and no piston has too much movement. if i did spin a rod bearing it prolly damaged the crank. i also have a engine out of a 97 vette. are the crankshafts the same? Thx for all your help. if you accept paypal ill send ya some money . not really but thx

The cranks are the same, so you're in luck. Bob
