Default Advice na monster

I have been debating selling my 408 nitrous motor and going na. I dont care much about being streetable but I will drive it on the street once and a while. With a Jerico and a aluminum block my car would be about 2900 with me in it. How many people have luck spinning these motors to 8000+rpm without bearing failure and no dry sump? Lme will be doing the motor because the did so well on the last one. I want to go eights na. What should I build?

You just wanna race this for Test & Tune or you want to actually run within a class so you can try to make some $$$ racing?

i will turn a little over 8000 in my set up. i will be using lsx block though. 430+cid, ls7/l92 heads/ custom sheet metal intake, solid roller, and compression should do the trick.

if it's an all out n/a motor.. go with the biggest CI you can withing you rbudget/rules for whatever you are racing will allow.

As for 8000+ rpm's.... oiling would definately be a concern, but the valvetrain stability would be a bigger one I think. A dry sump setup would solve the oiling issues, pro probably make more power, especially if a vacum pump or anything like that is part of the plan.

Talk to some of the guys that build the big n/a power setups, futral has done a few big ones, w2w has as well (camkhawk's motor I think)

I'd talk to the guys that have experience doing it, they will be able to tell you the most

I am thinking about waiting until the new light weight version of the new lsx block comes out. I am going to pm LME and see what he says. I am thinking 450ci area.

I wish, but NMCA/PRO is where its at if you want to compete and make money they have races in Chicago, Memphis, Bowling Green, and Ohio.
It'll take a serious effort to compete but when you're going 8's N/A with a Small Block you'd fit right into this class.

I am wondering how reliable a 8000+rpm solid roller car would be so I can drive it to street racing spots

you can drive it..... but I wouldn't drive it much.

You are running a pretty big hyd. cam now, how much it would pick up going to solid roller would depend on the compression you go to, and cam size. You're probably running about as big as you can with hydraulic stuff.. what have you got on that for springs/rockers now?

8's NA at 2900 lbs aren't gonna happen with a 450 cube small block. Maybe 9.2- 9.3 but 8's are hard to get NA!

the problem is that the best ETP heads flow about 420 cfm I believe, and a solid roller, 8K rpm motor swinging a 4.5 in. crank is a hard thing to make live a long time!

I think its possible. LS1Joe is running a 15:1 compression 3XX cu. in. motor, puts down 650 rwhp and ran 9.37 at around 3200 lbs race weight. If this guy plans on 450+ cubes plus a decent amount of compression, which by the way he's already at 12:1, 8s shouldn't be too far away.

It's not gonna be easy, but can be done. Like stated.. I wouldn't drive it much either, it's not gonna care for that.
