Tpis 427 L92 Results
A very big thanks to TPIS. After alot of R-D on the dyno my 427 with a hyd. cam street engine did 670hp. and 570tq. It made over 600hp. at 5700 and pulled all the way to 7500. I will have some rwhp numbers for you guys soon.

Work was done to help the exhaust side and mid lift flow numbers at .400 the heads did over 290, .500 over 320, .600 335. and over 340 at .650. The intake to exhaust ratio was 74%. TPIS hand made the sheet medal intake and after trying 3 cams, it was 249, 258, 630, 630 on a 114.5 lobe. The engine pulled 831 cfm on the dyno. We found that a larger header really help with these l92 heads.

why the 114+ lobe? Planning on juice? Great numbers. Interesting to see what a FULL port job would yield, maybe another 20 hp at peak. Did they dyno with L76 intake by chance?

We tried a World Challenge cam out of one of there race cars with close to the same spec's but on a 110 lobe the engine was a dog... Same results with a 112 lobe. We picked up 25hp from going to 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 and were able to run 4 more deg. of timing. We think that the 1 7/8 to 2in or a 2in header would be better. We never tried a L76 intake... The cam really liked to be retarded. The L92 really are sensitive to cam events for making power, more so then the ls base heads. Lots of cfms but velocity is slower on the runners of these heads. The L92 needs lots of cubic in. or a blower set up or RPMS to really see the best results.

Good chance this is one of our blocks. Is it?

I am wondering if 416 cubes is going to be enough with the heads fully done (i.e., 360-370 cfm intake 245 exhaust), although with the limitations of the L76 intake, probably a good size engine overall. It woudl be interesting to see someone take a 450+ motor with these heads, but that kind of defeats the whole purpose of a budget head. I like the fact that the motor liked the 114 lobe better than the tighter one....better drivability and likes the juice more!
Thinking... a L92 short block 416, fully done L92 heads, L76 intake/TB/Fuel rails?injectors, port inake and TB, big cam (like the one used here 114 lobe 249/258 .630/.635 or so), and spin it to 7500 rpms. Of course the only problem is the intake limiting high hp and what "cheap" valvetrain to use.
Really want to see more people start doing 360-416 cube shortblocks with FI, maybe a nice D1 blower with the heads and intake all done up would get some killer results!

12.8 to 1 comp. 100 oct. on the dyno. We never had knock. Yes on the streets it runs on E-85 tuned by Andy at dynotune in Watertown S.D. This engine has been on E-85 for a full year.

E85 is what, 105 octane? What all fittings did you need to change to use E85?
Interesting stuff this spring....L92 headed big cube NA motors, hopefully some FI/L92 400+cube motors, running 105 octane pump fuel....cheap power for a daily driver to be sure!
