Stock springs suck. I would replace them with any cam swap.

hotcam will work with LS6 springs. pretty choppy idle but its a smaller cam and theres not a lot of hp gains from it.

570 lift with the 2002 -2004 yellow LS6 springs. The springs don't suck - you just need to use them properly.

I won't argue with you. But they do suck for anything much more than a stock cam. For the price of springs it's cheap insurance.

That doesn't mean they have enough spring pressure to control the valves.

I ran the those springs for a full season with the cam that just came out of the car. At that time the Comp Cam made 224/228 563/568 with Ti retainers and 1.80 ratio rockers turning 6600 RPM.. The vette ran 11.95 - 12.05 with no valve train issues whatever. Don't listen to all these bench racers - most of them don't know their *** from a hole in the ground.

Thats a big part of why they worked fine for you.

I plan on running those springs with GMPP's ASA cam. Specs are...:
226/236 /525"/.525" 110 LSA
It definitely has a mean *** idle, and from various owners of the cam, they all say you'll never have to worry about the springs again (assuming you are running the yellow striped LS6 springs). It doesn't necessarily make the largest numbers, but what I really like about the cam is its under the curve power (~350rwtq @ ~3K RPMs!). Check out a thread I made not too long ago about this cam HERE
This is an idle clip of a member on here's car that has this cam: HERE His screen name is jmm98LS1.

There is only 6 grams differance between the Ti retainers and the steel retainers. There goes your theory! It depends more on the weight of the valves. Those springs were designed with the hollow stem LS6 valves in mind. Another part to look at is how agressive the lobes are on the cam.

You should have no problems i run the blue z06 springs (I dont know if the color makes a difference) On a cam with 581 lift on Int and Ext with no problems for the past three years and i beat the hell out of the car.

I do beleive that the blue Z06 springs are the 2001 version. They are supposedly only good for 540 lift, but they sure seem to work good for you.

If you don't mind, could you tell me what numbers he made? I'm trying to gather as much info as I can about the cam. If you have a dyno sheet, that would really help!

it was a installed on a 98 6spd car made 360 rwhp and 362 rwtq. Cars only mods were cat back and a K&n filter. Ran a 12.7 at 114 with 4.10s on nittos. Numbers might seem low but keep in mind car had a stock ls1 intake, lid and exhaust manifolds so no to bad in my book. Since then he has done supporting mods like headers, lid, ls1 intake, ported tb and True duals. hasnt had it dynoed since but the car has gone 11.9 at 116 with m/t's until the 10 bolt blew. Hope this helps.
