Default Worth the Jump??

Well, im thinking of getting rid of my MAC mids for some pacesetter LT's. I love my MACS. I love the sound, the fitment, and ground clearence, but i cant help but wonder how much power im leaving on the table now that the car is cammed. Do you guys thinks its worth it to step up to some LT's, or is the power incrase not going to be worth the money? i figure i can get a set of pacesetters and y-pipe for $400-450. And i can probably sell my mac headers and y for $250ish.

Also does Pacesetter make a catted y, because i have to pass a visual emissions inspec next year.

thanks for anyhelp

_Derek

I made the switch, the improvement in sound alone was worth it let alone the midrange torque I gained.

You'll gain some midrange tq under the curve, and maybe a few hp peak. I have a graph somewhere which shows the exact gains going from MACs to LTs.

I think you would gain more with an ls6 intake over the pacesetters. Thats JMO.

Get the LTs and Catted Y. Sell the mids to offset it. Should sound kick ***.

TSP has a good deal on LTs and Catted Y. Thats what i ended up with. Other than the clearance i dont have any complaints.

Honestly though i think that as soon as i leave VA for AL im going to throw on some TDs. Once they get old im gonna fab up a system identical to what TheBlurLS1 used to have. (TSP TDs with cats added and then extended out under the axle)

yeah i dont know what i wanna do. i really dont want cats on the car! but they have to be there. i dont want to pay a **** load of money for a catted y-pipe when ill probably end up gutting them haha(all i need them for is visual).
maybe i can buy a ORY and then just have some cats(my old gutted ones) welded in when emissions comes around next year? do you think that would work? my rear o2s are already deleted so theres no problem there.

Talk to Tim @ EAD Performance, he can get Magnaflow ceramic core cats at a very reasonalbe price. You could buy them separately and have them welded into an ORY.

Why not just gut the stock mac cats in the y-pipe? Thats what i did. Click the link in my sig if you want to hear it with mac mids/gutted cats, 232/238 cam and magnaflow. Sounds pretty good IMO.

it does sound good. that what im running now haha. i just think theres more power in a set of LT's. my buddy has the same headers and y-pipe i do. his cats were gutted, and mine werent. but he wanted to quite his car down, and i wanted mine louder, so we decided to switch when i put my clutch in.
If i go to sell the mids ill proubly get my catted y back because of selling purposes. I guess i just buy some cheap as cats separatly, gut them, and weld them in, since i only need the visual test to pass
