Default Painting Rotor Hubs???

Hey guys i got my new rotors in today and am curious, i dont want the hub to turn all rusty colored like my old rotors did, so im thinking whats the best way to prevent this? Is it best to take like a high temp paint and paint them? or does everyone think they should be fine? i bought the Rotoworks package from WS6 store..So im not sure how good they are or not..But if anyone has any advice please let me know..Thanks

All rotors will rust.

I painted mine. You should install them 1st and see where the brake pads make their track, then remove 'em and mask that "swept area" with masking tape and spray bomb it.

You can use high heat or normal black spray paint. I didn't use high heat on mine and it still looks good after one year.

That is all I did on my Trans Am. Taped off the disc (where the brake pads contact) and sprayed everything else with high temp paint. When you are done it should be nice and covered in paint except for the surfaces used for braking. And hopefully will stay rust free for you.

I did mine black on the T/A because there was really no other silver on the car. But that silver doesn't look bad. I will probably stick to black when I redo the Camaro brakes, but that is just personal preference.

Didn't paint mine at all, but they did come with the zinc coating and there is NO rust spots at all...except for wear the pads make contact with the rotor which of course it swept away once you brake the car.

So I see no need to paint them if they are zinc coated

Silver vs. Black for the rotor hubs, good rivalry.

Black makes the rotor look sorta tiny since it no longer is as noticeable.

Though silver doesn't always match up on the car, especially if the silver doens't match the silver already on the car.

i painted my ws6 store rotors with high temp paint, then caliper paint. the paint would just chip right off. im not sure if it did that beacuse of the zinc coating or not?

Did you seriosuly wash it, like until the latex gloves you were wearing started to melt off?

Also doesn't high-temp paint and caliper paint not interact properly when sprayed on top of each other?

I do believe that caliper paint is a paint on by itself paint.

I would think though that if you did clean it properly and when you said high temp and then caliper you were meaning not at the same time on top of one another but one after another when they chipped off, that it was definately the zinc coating.

Sorry my bad, i mean i painted them once with hi temp paint let them dry and the paint would chip right off. I then stripped them and then used caliper paint insted and once that was dry i could also chip that right off also. so i stripped that paint off and polished them and that was that. i wish i would have ordered them with the hats painted black already.

Dude try his hi temp paint called por 15 or 20 .Another member turned me onto it about 3 weeks ago, and ive allready done my exhaust and calibers with it.It almost looks like it was powdercoated and the brillyant aluminum color por 20 ,which i did my CME true duals in ,came out like they were ceramic coated.Good Luck!
