dex... the green stuff will eventually eat away at the aluminum. that's why they GM switched over.

never really thought much into the coolent itself, but a nice little trick is to add a tablespoon of DAWN dish soap to it. works as a nice wetter. seriously

If you are starting out with a complete new system - radiator and motor - IMO use Evans after a rebuild.

The long haulers get upwards to a million miles with the stuff - it lasts and lasts. Up front cost is more with Evans- keep your car and change every three years - Evans is cheaper. I hear you can buy Evans at John Deere dealerships cheaper.

I use Dexcool - keep the caps on and don't frequently expose DexCool to air and it won't gum like you see it do around the overflow cap and radiator cap if you keep exposing the stuff to air.

I can't switch to Evans because it doesn't like my Meziere electric water pump.

this is my second ls1 and i am using the mix with any brand or make stuff. i used the same stuff on my other ls1 as well.

If you are having cooling problems, moderate your mix to use the most possible water without risking freezing. Moving to 70% distilled water, 30% DexCool and a bottle of purple ice or water wetter will help keep summer temps down if that is a problem.

I've read that Evans is the way to go also, I'm planning on giving it a try.

i think buying Evans is a gimic. why do they want you to ONLY use their crap with their water pumps... stay with 50/50 distilled water and dex and add a bottle of purple ice or water wetter. i use that on both my cars in my signature! never over heating problems in FL summer!! EVER!!!

I've been able to find Dexcool at Advance Auto and Auto Zone...it is what I use in mine along with distilled water. Keeps the car cool, and that's all I can ask.

If you mix the dex with green stuff you will run into trouble. Gaskets etc will rot. Green stuff has a shorter life span then dex cool also. I say stick to the dex cool; gm made it for their motors so stick with it.
