Default Ls1 in toyota 4x4

I am putting an ls1 in a toyota 4x4 truck and have some questions.

1. Which wiring harness is preferred?
2. Since i am running an old truck 4 speed manual i need to reprogram the computer...where do i do this or how can i do this myself? Are there any free downloads for this?
3. Does the engine need a the VSS for anything but the trans?

Thank you for any information.

any non 98 ecu and wiring is preferred since it has an advantage with tuning. i dont think the ecu needs input from the vss for any reason but dont qoute me on that.

By wiring harness, i meant aftermarket such as painless, street and performance, etc... I already have the motor and ecu out of an 03 corvette.

Get a speartech standalone harness, easiest of the bunch

Also, post pics and info 'cos I've thought of doing it to my '95 Yoda

1. Speartech, Wait4meperformance, or rework the harness yourself.
2. Speartech, Jesse at wait4meperformance, a bunch of the other sponsors. You can also reprogram it yourself if you buy HP Tuners or EFI Live 7.
3. As far as I know the motor does not NEED the VSS signal, but it is more efficient if you have it hooked up.

Hate to bring up an old thread but did you find headers for this?

Which headers from Sandersons did you use? In the middle of a 5.3 swap into my '89 toyota 4x4 right now. What did you end up doing for your harness? and do you have any pics? Just looking for some info cause I'm about to be at that point in my build and trying to track down everything I need to make it easier when I get there. Any and all info is greatly appreciated as I'm kind of in the dark right now.
