Default Cylinder Heads Question

Lookin at stage 3 ls6 heads and also looking at these. What do you guys think?
http://texas-speed.com/shop/item.asp...d=649&catid=20
I am looking at these beacause they are only $1300 for stage 3 ls6 and $1100 for the CNC ported heads. I dont know a damn thing about heads all I know is I need to rebuild my valvetrain and I was looking at these.

Any recomendations?

these are the stage 1 cnc ported LS6 243 casting heads from PRC (one of the best in value and performance)

they are less than $950 without the cnc valve job fully assembled with new stock size valves but not hollow valves and sodium filled exhaust valves with LS6 springs (still cnc ported intake and exhaust)

plus $100 for the cnc valve job (here is where they become $1050)

then there is the spring option where the price will reach the $1300 you posted with the PRC dual spring kit with the titanium retainers ...

they are all stage 1 .... (see below item detail at the top the name and item #)

now if you want to upgrade your valvetrain they have a great cam package ....
if you want heads and cam they also have a heads and cam package (big money saving there)

they have a stage 2.5 ls6 heads .... with dual valvesprings kit and bigger valves 2.02 or 2.04 intake vlaves your choice and 1.57 exhaust valves for $1450
http://texas-speed.com/shop/item.asp...d=134&catid=40

and a stage 3 ls6 heads with even bigger valves but for bigger Bore engines (LS2 or Iron Block that come with 4.000 Bore) 2.08 intake valves and 1.60 exhaust valves with the dual valvesprings.
$1850

hope it clears things up ....

but a recommendation will depend your cam choice and if you're willing to flycut the pistons for the bigger valves with big cams or high lift cams with milled heads.

Dont get caught up in your head that just because the stage is higher means its better. Ive seen my TEA stage 1.5s look similar to other companies stage 3s and they made more power.

Not any time soon maybe next year or something Ill put in a cam but just a small one. 224/224 will be the largest I get if I were to get one. I am looking into heads now rather than later because I have 130K miles and am rebuilding it piece by piece and right now Im aiming at the valvetrain. Also Iv read that I may gain up to 30rwhp by upgrading to a good set of LS6 heads for under $1500. My current setup is lid, MAF, pp tb, (ls6 intake waiting for instal), Headers and exhaust. The only thing left is the Heads, but I dont know anything about them.

the texas speed stage II's seem like a good bargain, me personally will probably end up with a GMPP ASA cam and the ported LS6's texas speed offers with the hardened pushrods and beehive valve springs
