Default check spring question

started my h\c swap today, everything was okay until i started checking the ptv clearance. tsp 233\239 with dart 205's. using trick flows degree wheel kit check springs i was getting alot of clearance, too much. I noticed 2 things: the check spring is overpowering the ls7 lifter plunger, and if i torque the rocker arms it also pushes it down. Is it okay not to torque the arms and to use a softer spring or am i completely missing the point. thanks.
