Couple of weeks back my 2000 Camaro SS threw a troublecode for the AIR Bank 1 Air system being low. After doing some investingating with my predator scan tool im begining to think that an O2 sensor may be the cause of this. I have a few questions though. How can i confirm that the O2 sensor is the cause? How do i know which phisical O2 sensor is bad? Should I replace the O2 sensors in pairs? Any advice on which replacements I should buy?

Thanks in Advance

im not so sure that o2s will cause your air pump code......the air pump itself could be going bad

The exact troublecode is: DTC P1416 Secondary Air Injection (AIR) System Bank 2.

The exact code stipulation:

During the AIR test the PCM activates the AIR pump during closed loop operation. When the AIR is activated, the PCM monitors the HO2S voltages and short term fuel trim values for both banks of the engine. If the AIR system is operating properly, the HO2S voltages should go low and the short term fuel trim should go high. If the PCM determines that the HO2S voltages for both banks did not respond as expected during the tests, DTC P0410 sets. If only one sensor responded, the PCM sets either a DTC P1415 or P1416 to indicate on which bank the AIR system is inoperative.

Don't spend your money on 02 sensors - P1416 is most likely just a clogged passenger side air check valve (GM PN 12565503) but available at your local parts store. Take it off and see if it's clogged with carbon deposits. If you put P1416 into search you'll find a lot of posts on this.
