I know next to nothing about a stall? teach me? ( searched for it, no luck)
I found a 1996 Camaro Z28 automatic, and I was really looking for a 6 speed but no luck, so I check out this forum and theres people everywhere talking about installing higher stalls? What is it?what does it do? and any other info you guys can give to a guy thats a newb in the transmission department. Should I look at modifying the automatic? or do the A4 to M6 conversion. Also how hard would it be to convert to the Manual? How much $$$ would I be spending to do the a4 to m6 conversion, or doing a stall?

You're going to spend a lot more money swapping A4->M6 than just stalling the A4. There's a sticky at the top of this forum as well as the top of the manual trans forum with information about swapping A4->M6 and vise versa.
If you really want a six speed, I'd wait until you find one instead of settling for an auto...I wish I would have. Even with a 3600 stall & drag radials, I still can't wait until I've got the funds/time to pull the auto for a t56 setup....but that's just me.

A stall makes you leave like a bat outta hell on the starting line. I hear they are tons of fun and I plan to convert my M6 to an auto soon. Before you decide to convert to an M6 make sure thats what you really want. In other words if you are really into qtr. times stick with an auto, if you just want a street driver/crusier go with an M6.

More specifically, if you have lets say a 3600 stall, does that mean everytime you start from a stop the car is going to shoot to 3600 RPM and begin to move? or is there a way to adjust the settings?

I have a 4000 stall and it takes about 2500 rpm's to accelerate with traffic. However, punching it off the line will flash it to 4000 immediately. Another thing that changes is how much the rpm's drop when the car shifts (called shift extension). My shift extension is 5100. MUCH better than stock. When going WOT, you are always in the meat of your power. For instance, going WOT from a dead stop to say 100 MPH, my car will never dip below 4000 rpm's. As soon as it gets over 5100 rpm's in 1st gear, it will never dip below 5100 as long as you're WOT.
One downside to converters is traction....DR's are a must. Gas mileage suffers in town as well, but it's not bad and the pros far outweigh the cons. Highway cruising is just like stock once the converter locks. Converters really change the driving experience and are hands down one of the best mods for the A4. With traction, off the line acceleration is violently fast.
With that said, I too sometimes wish I still had a 6-speed. I drive my buddies from time to time and I really enjoy rowing the gears. I too will eventually swap in a T56 someday....or buy another 6-speed SS and have the best of both worlds. If you really want the 6-speed, hold out. When spending this kind of money, get what you want.
