how much tranny fluid do i need?

Default how much tranny fluid do i need?

ok i just got a brand new transmission and was wondering how much fluid i need to get? i hear 5.5 quarts but then i hear that our transmissions actually hold more than that and when u drain it only some comes out???

If it's a T56, you fill until fluid starts to dribble out of the fill hole. I think it holds close to a 4 quarts...

yup put a gto tranny in my car yesterday and it was exactly 4 qts.

4qts, but there is a fill hole on the side. You fill it just like a rear end right up to that hole.
