DCX Takes Aim At GM's Kappa Roadsters: Meet The 2007 Dodge Demon Concept
http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/12/d...but-in-geneva/
To be fair, Dodge was serious about building a Miata fighter before GM was when they showed off their 2002 Razor Concept which was almost put into production. However for whatever reason Dodge decided not to put the Razor into production. Well with GMs Kappa cars (Solstice and Sky) doing well and getting a lot of attention it looks like Dodge has decided to get serious and get in on the action.
I'm a bit mixed on the looks of the Demon. Whereas the Razor didn't look like anything in Dodge's lineup it was a bit too cutesy for my tastes. On the other hand, the more aggressive looking Demon ends up being kind of a mess. The front end screams mini Viper or mini Charger SRT-8 but the *** end is a BLATANT rip off of the 2nd gen Audi TTs rear. I'm thinking Audi may have something to say about that when this concept is unveiled at Geneva.
Mechanically speaking the Demon is powered by the same 172hp 2.4L World engine that's available in the Caliber/Compass/Patriot. In the Demon it's mated to a 6 speed manual. If the Demon hits showrooms I'd say it's a safe bet that Dodge would drop the 300hp 2.4L turbo 4 from the Caliber SRT-4 into this thing to give buyers a Demon SRT-4 to go head to head with the Solstice GXP/Sky Redline.
All in all this is NOT what I was expecting from Dodge. I had heard rumors that they wanted to resurrect the Razor project but I had assumed that the production car would more closely resemble the Razor and not look like a mishmash of cars you can already find in showrooms. The Demon is not bad looking but it's far from pretty. The Solstice and especially the Sky are much better looking cars. I'm hoping Dodge tweaks the styling if they decide to build a production version.

Its a mix between S2000(overall shape), Viper(front end), BMW Z4(side), and Audi TT(rear). That car is ugly as sin.
The lines of the car dont flow at all. What the hell is DCX thinking?

I LOVE IT!!! 350Z and an S2000 did the mcnasty!!! It looks a lot better than the original concept to boot. I like this better than the Solistice and the MX5. I could see having a Demon as a track car and a 09 camaro as a DD!!!

I love how small it is compared to the large *** Kappa cars. Seriously that thing would be a fun little roadracer and auto-Xer!!! And an SRT4 version would be outfrigginstanding!!!

gentlemen, we need to make a vehicle that competes with the solstice/sky. but I dont want to use a lot of imagination.... I got it, lets just throw a bunch of cars into a blender and use whatever comes out. perfect!
