Default Clutch went "pop", lost pedal and smoke in the vents...???

Ok, so I'm sitting in a McDonalds drive through and my clutch pedal went "pop" and fell to the floor. It then started smoking through the a/c vents and out from under the hood. Any ideas on what this is or how much $$$ to fix?

Sounds like the clutch line has come loose and sprayed on the motor causing the steam. Check the clutch fluid reservoir to see if it still has fluid or not.

Something in the hydralics took a **** on you. Your suspects are.... Slave? Master is easiest to check tho not sure what it could have sprayed fluid on to make the steam. Check reservoir as summit said and you should see a loss of fluid. My money is on the slave cylinder .

Sounds like the slave took a **** and sprayed fluid all over the clutch.

It's time for a new clutch and hydraulics.

Ask me how I know.

Did the car jump forward after the "pop" sound and the pedal dropping to the floor?? If the hydraulics blew out, the pressure plate should have engaged and the car should have lurched forward and stalled out. Unless you had it in neutral of course.
