Default april carcraft 6.0L dyno numbers

new issue of carcraft they took a stock junkyard 6.0L engine and put in a gm ls1 hotcam and valvesprings and a carb intake, 750 holley dp and dyno'd it

483 hp at 6000 rpm, 450 tq at 5000 rpm, not bad for a cam only used engine(this was with the accessories on the engine, alt, water pump, p/s pump)

mmm looks to be the same combo in my s-10 beater

next month they are swapping on a set of L92 heads

Do you think that they will use the same intake manifold? Are they running a distributor?

L92 heads have totally different intake ports and the intake rocker arms are special for the L92 heads beacuse the intake valves are so big that they require offset rockers

when they swap to the L92 heads they will use the new L92 carb intake, no dist just the msd ignition box

for the fuel injected people you can just order the car L92/L76 intake from the gm holden version, the part # is all over the net

I looked at the article at the grocery store when I was there this evening. I wrote down the P/N of the intake (it's 88958675) which is the cathedral port version. It will be very interesting to see what happens next month.

if its a stock 317 heads, then that puts it at less than 10:1 scr
thats pretty impressive.
they should have the L92's milled for at least 10:1 on the next swap
at least .030

i'm gonna have to get those issues. that is exactly what i'm doing. i just picked up the motor yesterday.
throwing it in my 83 truck with a vic jr intake and msd 6010. i may run the stock cam just to see what it does before putting another cam in. then i'll add something like a ms3, g5x2, or something in that range. later this summer i'm planning for l92 heads and l92 carbed intake.
