Custom cam help...
Hey guys, I know theres a few people on this board that spec out cams. But I'm having the hardest time getting anyone to help. I got bret to help me but he won't spec me a cam. Patrick G answered my first email, but not my 2nd or 3rd. I'm really serious about getting a custom cam or a shelf cam that will work good with my setup. So can anyone else give me some cam recommendations? Here's my specs...
Fuel injected 355 C.I. Gen I 4 bolt main (later model) in my 95 z28 (no longer LT1).
Hyd. 561/573 lift(w/ my 1.65 rockers), 230/236 Cam 112lsa (regrind), 1.65 Roller Rockers, Patriot 195cc Port/polished Alum heads 64cc 2.02 1.60, flow #'s before the port and polish job= INTAKE: 400L/223 500L/252 600L/263 700L/270 750L/272
EXHAUST: 400L/170 500L/183 600L/184 650L/185, 58mm TB, Weisco Forged Flat top Pistons, all forged internals, Balanced/blue printed, Edelbrock Victor Jr single plane port matched intake, 36# SVO injectors, HOOKER Long tubes and 3" Catback, 4.56 gears. It's my daily driver but I'm young and can deal with inconvenience's, as long as its drivable on the street and in school zones (20mph and doesn't have to be comfortable), i'm fine...

But if I were you, I'd call a few cam companies and tell them everything about your car and combination - and then pick the one that you feel is the best for what you want to do.

I answered your general information questions, but without filling out my questionaire so I'd be armed with all the information I need, I'd just be doing like anyone else on the board...making a wild guess. The general information I gave you should get you into the ballpark, but if you're ready to have a custom cam spec'd, you're going to need to provide whoever does it with more info than you've given above.

Got it. I'm running some different combos on my program. Also trying to find the best spring combo for you (if you want to run the latest). You current combo is not terribly far off from what I would normally recommend. I do think you'll benefit by a narrower LSA though. That's going to help quite a bit.

I think what will help me most is all the other details such as ramp rates, lobes, etc... From the stock regrind. Like I said, it's my daily driver but I'm young and can deal with inconvenience's if it means better performance. And I am running 4.56 gears. Thanks again! When you get it all figured out, let me know a price of everything, and how this works. (email)
