Default Will D1SC be adequate?

I will be running the following in my 2002 SS vert: stock internals; D1SC w/ twin intercoolers; FAST 90/90; 60# injectors with return fuel set up; TR blowr cam 214/230; Kooks Headers; AFR 225cc heads (72cc Chambers). I was wondering if you think the D1SC will adequately boost this set up and what upper limit of boost would probably be with this set up? Car is 99% street, 1% track. Any input from our knowledgable tech addicts would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty much anchored in to this set up so any small tips would also be helpful.

Yes it will be plenty for ya. Keep the boost around or under 10lbs or it may go . I ran 10lbs on my stock motor and it lasted over a year with a good tune. Over 500RWHP also!

Planned on 10 psi or thereabouts. I currently have P1SC at 7 psi on stock engine. Tech at TR suggested around 650-680 RWHP with my new set up. Think this is near accurate.

That much power it would be highly recommended that you forge your shortblock.I think alot of other's will agree.

from what ive read, 550rwhp is around the limit of stock internals so 650 shouldnt last too long

The D-1SC would be what I would suggest for you as well. I also recommend forging the bottom end before you up the boost. I have seen ring lands on pistons crack and then a piece gets wedged in the cylinder and cranks the block. Bob

Thanks all for the input. As I said, very very little track use so I hope that extends the time frame a little. At least long enough to save for the short block. Would rings likely be the first point of failure as far as the internals go?

Tuning speed density will help the reliability.

AFR 1630 225 72cc heads are good, with a 3.90 bore block you will need to use large bore head gaskets.

No, the number seven piston (drivers side rear) is typically the first item to break. Bob

Here is a complete package that I put together, using the ATI ProCharger D-1SC with an option to upgrade to the F1A head unit. Bob

I'm not sure who told you 680rwhp with 10lbs, but that won't happen. More like the 550 others said. And if you DO plan to hit that level, you are talking 15lbs+, which requires a forged block + an FMIC or meth along with everything else. (= BIG dollars) Talk to Bob.

Fraser, I will be using the LS7 gaskets and have them already. Was planning on tuning with your shop when everything is in place. Will call and make an appointment when it is together.
