Default LS1 + 93 300ZX, Will it fit?

I got a new job and want another LSX car and looks like with patience and wrench time I can do this for a reasonable price. The question is will it fit? Will the rear end and brakes handle the LS1? This is a non turbo 300Z if that helps. Has anyone done this before?

a lot of people put them in 240s and use the 300 rear and brakes so youre skipping an entire step so thats awesome..

Pics didnt work? Although thanks for the info guys, I figured Id have room and the donor car is only 1200$ so it doesnt seem like much of a loss on my end. I'll get pics up once I start probably wont be until the summer since chicago weather sucks hard.

it fits from what ive seen in person. but the firewall clearance is a much bigger issue. depending on how you mount the motor you will have to cut the firewall but mainly the tranny tunnel.

Yes it fits, search the 300ZX boards and www.hybridz.org for more information. The brakes are fine and the rear end is good for well over 600WHP/TQ

The non-turbo rear is the same as the 240 rear (both are R200Vs or R200s). The only difference is some 240s didn't come with LSD, hence the reason for swapping in a 300ZX N/A rear (the Infiniti J30 is also a direct swap and were all LSD). Now, if he was starting with a Twin Turbo Z (R230V), he would have a pretty much indestructible rear (think Ford 9") to work with. The 230 in R230V stands for 230mm = 9.05"...the V stands for Viscous meaning it is a Viscous Limited Slip Differential.

There are pictures of a few Z32s with ls1s in them rolling around the internet. Two of them are from hybridz.org. One member's name was krazeezx (he's also on twinturbo.net) and here is his cardomain:
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/698415/1

I also have a video of his car. Apparently he used to have a SC on it too (I think it was a Procharger) but I have not seen any pictures. He also stated that he had to massage the firewall a bit, and the engine sat a few inches back and helped his weight distribution.

Here are some more pictures that aren't on his cardomain.

There was another member on hybridz, but I can't remember his name. It was Adalshwa or something. His swap was not as clean as the white one, and he was banned from the website for selling a how-to conversion manual for the z32. You can still probably find them on ebay, but apparently they don't give any real direction; He ended up scamming people on hybridz. His car was a light blue color and he did some serious firewall/transmission tunnel work.

I would be wary of any manual for sale; I seem to recall a couple of them floating around, but none were any good. Read my post and you'll see I mention one of them.

Ive never done a transplant like this but I have dont fabrication work before and I'll be working in a full shop while this is done as long as I wait till the end of the summer to start. So Im not hella experienced but there will be plenty of experts around making sure I dont cut the thing in half with a sawzall.

a good friend of mine put an lt1 in a 300z a couple years back. Also, i knew another local that put a ls1 in a 300z. He had to have the oil pan modified to clear the stearing rack.

I'm not dissing it.

For people with an LS1, are better than people without an LS1.

I have an LS1.
