Default removed intake oil leak!!! wtf

First Off I Hate Going Behind Retards When Working On Something.well I Removed My Intake Too Install My New Weiand Today And Found A Fu**ing Mess.the First Thing I Found Was A Splice In The Brake Booster Hose.next I Find The Pcv Line Mashed Under The Rear Of The Intake And Rotted Into.oh Well Onto The Oil The Foam Padding On The Rear Of The Intake Is Drenched In Oil.
Questions
1.is It Possible The Pcv Hose Caused The Oil There?
2.has Anyone Replaced The Oil Sending Unit With An Aftermarket Gauge?
Any Help Thanx

I had the same problem with my PCV hose when I pulled the intake a few years back to replace the knock sensors. I would say that the oil came from there. I think mine had oil on the sponges on the intake too. Just replace the hose or bypass it and you're golden.

About the oil sending unit, you might as well keep the stock one since the gauge actually works on the 98s. I wouldn't see a need to get an aftermarket one. Just seems like a waste of money to me. Just my $.02.

I hope this helps.

the oil comes from the pcv system. Myself and many other have put in a catch can-around 100 for the oil system or you can look into changing out to a zo6 pcv valve- pretty cheap. I have put both on my vehicle and I have no oil in the intake what so ever, and I only get a shot glass full of oil in about 2 oil changes now, if I didn't have the catch can that would of gone right into the intake to get burned or stick to the intake.

If not you can buy the socket at a local auto parts store for 12-15 bucks. It's an Ampro part.
