Default stall tune?

Hi guys, will I need a tune if I get ss3600 yank? If I do need one how much am I looking at? Any estimates on how much mpg will I lose? 00z28 bolt-ons.

I wouldnt call it a tune but maybe a tweak. You might need to change or up the REV limiter or lower the shift points due to it bouncing off the rev limiter. ITs a hit and miss kind of thing.

In the city and stay out of WOT, maybe 2-3 MPG loss if not more.. On the highway none as the verter will lock up over ~44mph and get nomal driving.

i just installed a Yank ss3600 this past weekend and i believe all of my stock tune parameters would have been fine however i have hptuners and tweaked a few things. I wanted it too lock-up sooner and make sure it doesn't tap the rev limiter. I'm not sure, but it doesn't seem like i have lost any MPG or at least very little...i will be able to tell soon as i have not even ran a full tank through it. I must say the drivability of this converter is amazing. You will be very happy

BTW most tuners charge about 125-150 for a tranny tune..which may come in very handy in your case

don't want to hijack your thread but what about for a 3000 stall is a tune needed for that low of a stall?

It all depends.. You pretty much have to install it and see how it works.

I had a 3500 stall on a stock tune for awhile. No issues at all.

I know I need a tune. It hasn't been tuned yet. I live 20minutes from Ed Wright's shop but have just been to lazy. She run's rich as ****...I probably could've saved the money on gas with the price of a tune a couple months ago.

BTW, love your car presto_z.

i hope you are not saying the verter had something to do with your car running rich... ...but waterbug is right it is hit or miss, my dad had a 3000 yank that hit the limiter on shifts after intall and when i put my 3600 in i had no problems at all but still had it tuned for $75 to get the most out of the shift points and raising the limiter a little...

when my stall went in the shift points werent far off, but the converter would grunt when going into lock-up, like it was locking too slow...

Yep, HPP allows for shift point and rev limiter adjustments.
