Default coolant temp

does anyone know where i can get a coolant temp sensor from besides the dealer???

Not sure what year your car is, but go to this thread to find the actual part number:

This is what I found there:
LS1 coolant temperature sensor (98) (3-wire sensor: 2 for PCM, 1 for gauge) = 12551708
LS1 coolant temperature sensor (99-02) (2-wire) (AC-Delco #213-953) = 15326388

Then go here and search for it:

I looked up one for a 99-02 LS1 on there and it was about $20 vs a dealer price of $30.
