Arrow Throttle Body Help!?!?! (Noob Here)

I am currently taking off my throttle body to have it ported and polished by New Era, and I have a couple quick questions.....

1. I need to know how to take off the outside throttle body cable...

2. I just got this car 20,000 miles ago, it now has 89,000. I think this has never been cleaned or taken off of the car. Look at all the grime...
My question is, what is it?? And should I clean it out??

You just pull it towards you and it slides off. I don't mean pull it straight away from the side of the TB but pull it towards the front of the car and it slides off. As for the grime that is pretty damn nasty!!!! Most of our cars have a little bit around the TB blade and on the inside of the intake but yours is freakin' gross! While you're at it you should do the EGR mod. Do a search for it for directions but basically you cut about half of that big metal cylinder off that's hanging down from the top of the intake. It's the cylinder right on the inside of the intake that's obstructing some airflow.

No it's just oil from the PCV system (positive crankcase ventilation). The PCV system hooks up to a small line right behind the throttle body and it uses the vacuum inside the intake manifold to "suck" the positive pressure in the PCV system out. The positive pressure is from the crankcase and it carries oil vapor out to our intake manifolds. Not a big deal really just mucks up the manifold. Some people switch to an oil catch can to "catch" the oil before it reaches the intake or they ditch the PCV system and run a breather on the valve cover (looks like a little air filter on the oil filler cap).
