New LS1 Owners - Newbie Tech - new and want a 427

I am coming from the Ford 5.0 side, and new to lsx's. To make a long post short...I have a nice 69 427/390 Vette that has a 454. Since it isn't the original engine, I am not opposed to putting in a 427 inch lsx.
Basically, I am looking for the most cost effective, reliable way to get 427 ci out of an ls based engine. (I know about the ls7 crate)
I know other ls based motors can be stroked to 427, and I am not opposed to a carb. 400 to the wheels would be nice.
Give me some options...
Thanks!
Ryan

Sorry..... I dont think I read that right... you want 400 RWHP out of a 427 lsx? :jest:
Well I have some real good news for you.
LSX based 427 put down more like 500-550 RWHP(in some cases more) on a regular basis.
There are ALOT of sponcers on this site that build 427 long blocks. Give the links to the side a click and welcome to newschool power ;)

I know they are that capable, just didn't want any "do you know what you need to support that kind of power" replies. I am new to lsx's but not that new. I guess it backfired, lol. I have clicked the sponsor's links before, but I don't see them now???

haha! OK-the ls7 crate is about 13K, which would be about what 430-440 to the wheels?

Actually. He just said "block" That sounds about right then. Shortblock is like 8.5K and heads are $$$.

Yeah, you won't get into a big inch stroker LSX engine for what you'd be paying for a BBC. Just get a 402 inch LS2 and be done with it. You'll have like 450+ rwhp and the advantages of a lightweight aluminum block, which a lot of the bigger strokers do not have.
