Default Whats the deal with Bosch Plugs?

I have always heard how the Bosch 2 prong 4 prong are great and are especially good for modified ignition systems (MSD etc.) but I see that this whole site tends to lean er, side with NGK (specifically the TR55).
Do most people here beleive that the multi prong plugs are just not worth it?or B.S.? Is this a sponser thing? Have I been waisting my money on the German product or is there actually something to having the multi prong. If so can anyone give me any detail on how they really help.
Or if this is a stupid question can someone just email me a letter bomb.
Thanks.
P.S. I have done a few searches and I just seem to get more questions.

By this do you mean that you have heard anything bad? Or just neutral overall I guess.
What do most guys use on a modified ignition system then?

Anything more than 1 prong is a waste of money. Electricity jumps to the path of least resistance. I.E. the prong that is a closest. They will never be excatly the same distance away.

bosch is crap, i know this is off topic but i used to own a cavalier Z24, had autolite platinums in it and ran 15.2, changed to +4's and ran back to back 15.6, changed back to autolite's and turned a 15.2 again, i have the NGK TR55's and seem pretty happy with them in the camaro

When I got my first Firebird V-6 I put in Bosch (single prong) because I had good luck with them in air cooled VW's. I couldn't get 20,000 miles out of them before I had problems. Tried again, same result. Tossed them, put in the expensive irridiums. No problem. Some might like Bosch, but probably not in these cars. And IMHO multiprongs are just a marketing gimick.

The BOSCH you guys can get from Autozone or Kragen is crap. I use to work at Autozone, so we had to offer the Bosch to the customers. Bosch is meant for European cars, but look at the oem Bosch plugs compared to the Autozone Bosch plugs and they dont even compare.

NGK TR55s are really the proven plug for our cars. I think the Bosch ones are more of an advertising gimmick.

Bosch sucks. I know several mechanics and parts guys and they are always telling me to stay away from Bosch... Also apparently the split fires aren't any better than regular plugs.

i work at advance auto, and i steer everyone clear of bosch plugs... like someone said earlier, electiricty takes the path of the least resistance, so multi-prong plugs are pointless. the only time i reccommend bosch plugs are when someone has a german made car ie VW, BMW...ect.. other than, they are ****.. i reccommend NGK to anyone with anything. Or if they dont like that.... ac delco - GM, champion - Chrysler, autolite- Ford/GM.... and iridium IX are awesome plugs in my opinion. I run them in my yamaha yfz-450, and they never foul out, i had one foul out in like 7 months, just because the cold weather got to it... and i run the v-powers in my 3rd gen 305. runs real good. id take ngk over n e thing n e day.

I understand this concept as it is basic and I am an ELT major, however I was ready to be suprised how things might be different in the extreme environment that is a cylinder. EG: maybe the extremely high voltage in the plug would have the arc split (I dunno). Also the redundancy (i would have thaught) would have helped. I guess I was overthinking it.
To be honest it does suprise me how overwhelming the responses are against.

Not even for the upgraded ignition? Blown intake? MSD? Why the hell are they so popular!?!?! God I hate the general public.

thanks to all once again. I love this site.

the bosch multi prong plugs are nothing special. everyone knows electricity follows the path of least resistance, but multiple prongs will not allow the current to jump toward multiple targets simultaneously. under certain circumstances it will, but for the rare occurances in which it happens within the combustion chamber, it does not make a difference (unless you're running a professional racecar which requires specific electrode gap placements).

The problem with the Bosch +2 and +4 plugs is that the center electrode is so small and the end of it is flush with the ceramic... it is easily "obscured" when the plug gets carbon fouled, and then spark is compromised and the fouling gets worse.
